I’ve been writing and rapping for the last 8 years and I’ve got a good handful of songs over the last few that I want to put on my debut album. So I’m asking for sectioneighty’s respectable opinions as I genuinely aspire to become a successful rapper within 3-5 years!

How many tracks do you think a debut rap album should be? Is an EP or LP better for introducing a new artist? Ideal length? Any other thoughts or advice are welcome.

I was originally planning the album to be around 40 minutes (considered an LP), so 10-12 tracks or so. But I’m also into the idea of putting something a little more condensed out, thoughts?

    What’s your rap name?

Most of my tracks tend to run 2:30-3:30 mins so that wouldn’t be too bad

EP is safest bet imo - quality over quantity.

For example, if it's a story telling album or something similar, the tracks that don't really fit with the narrative are filler imo

As a rap listener, what are some song matters you’re not interested in hearing or got sick of?

My debut project was an ep and I'm planning another ep to drop soon with an lp sometime next year so it's up to you honestly I don't really like projects with filler and like albums that get straight to the point

:emoji_cold_sweat::emoji_sweat: I’m not sure I can deliver on this considering how rarely I’m able to record atm but once I have my place next year I’ll be able to make so much music, so I’ll keep this in mind!
