I'm so bad at this. I blow money I basically don't have on alcohol, cigarettes and drugs. I have no self control.

Probably more important now than ever, keeping as much back up money as possible.

I used to not give a s--- about money and buy what I wanted, when I wanted. Times changed a few years ago and I now live by the mantra of
"spend money on what you NEED and experiences rather than material objects".
This has worked for me over the last 3 years with being able to save around £50k in that time.

***I'll update this thread with how I do this later or tomorrow, run out of time now. For now, feel free to share any tips or suggestions on how to save money***

I think money management comes with age and experience man. That used to me.
Then I had the moment of realisation of the "three pillars". Money. Time. Energy. Success is about having all 3 but that doesn't come naturally.
When you're young you have energy and time but no money.
When you're a working adult you have money and energy but no time.
When you're old/retired you have money and time but no energy.

My goal over the next 20 years is purely about focusing on my retirement and to be able to retire 10+ years before the "official" retirement age so that I can have a few years of money, time and energy.

    im very good at it.
Always have been. The key has been discipline & not a heavy drinker or drug user.
Any mental health problems I have always confronted by talking about it to someone. Never been one to keep things to myself for long or turn to substances to numb pain or over eat either which I have seen people do.
I did enjoy weed in the past but I have to stop completely because I knew it turn into a problem. Thinking more long term at times can help as well.
