Jan 31, 2015 Not even sure where to start with this horrible, horrible post ("go to Rap Genius" "never before heard revelations" "not a three syllable rhyme in sight" ), but let's start here: plz list all six metaphors from the opening line of Like Toy Soldiers. not to mention, even if your points here were good (they aren't, they're embarrassing and perfectly indicative of how you overanalyze Marshall's music), you're being disingenuous. Like Toy Soldiers is the only truly high-quality song on Encore on a lyrical level. Much easier to use it to prop up the album because it's an outlier. That's like me using Drips to explain to you why The Eminem Show is s--- - it wouldn't be a fair look at the album. You aren't writing paragraphs defending Rain Man and Just Lose It and Puke because they aren't songs worth defending - but they're far more par for the course on Encore than Like Toy Soldiers is. Jesus Christ, will you listen to yourself? "how many people he helps"??? It's hard to read cringeworthy s--- like this. Particularly when you're contrasting it with Marshall, who has shown contempt for his fans for years.
Jan 31, 2015 dude are you for real his first six possible meanings for just the word soldier off the top of my head being an actual solder on a battlefield being a perfect dad (wayne's kids are a joke and nori's mom is kim k superstar js) being a competitive rapper (arguably the best ever) being a decent son being part of a respectable crew being an appropriate role model for millions
Jan 31, 2015 your move shitbag I should make get thrown into a throne better watch the f---in tone that you speak my tagline. koolo is there a character limit?
Jan 31, 2015 Only 3 of those made sense Idk if you know this but soldier=/=father, son or role model Fathers and sons and role models can BE soldiers, but in that case Kanyes opening lines of Jesus Walks are triple that because n----s can be fathers, sons, moms, daughters, owners, criminals, lawyers, government officials, and soldiers, which loops back into the 6"metaphors" you listed
Jan 31, 2015 what the f--- there's not a single note in the entire song that suggests that it's about being a decent son. Not a single moment suggests that Nor are there signs that it's about being a father. It certainly isn't about being a literal soldier lmfaaoooo This is why people have trouble debating with Eminem fans. You're packing a whole bunch of meaning into a song that isn't actually there. And yet you're so convinced of it (for some reason) that you can't be reached on an intellectual level, I won't be able to talk you out of it despite the total lack of evidence supporting your point. Do you REALLY think if you asked Eminem, his response would be "Uhhhh yeah. The song's about being a role model and a son and a literal soldier. That's what I intended for you to take from it." No, it may SEEM more important to you but in reality it's merely a song about "rap beef". It's a very good song about "rap beef", but that's all it is. You just took everything that soldier COULD be a metaphor for, that also applies to Em, and assumed that he meant it in that nature. It's all in your head lol. There are no context clues suggesting you're right, and in fact it wouldn't make sense if you were because it totally distracts from the point of the song. He pretty explicitly spells out what he's talking about, there's no reason to believe there's this overarching symbolism like you're saying. But yeah, keep going through life thinking Like Toy Soldiers is about Eminem being a decent son!!
Jan 31, 2015 implying rap wasn't a way to give his daughter a better life and that everything he did between 1988 and 1998 wasn't solely for her benefit implying eminem doesn't listen to his own s--- and see how people might interpret it and reflect on his own experiences and experiences of people in similar situations literally or metaphorically when he's writing
Jan 31, 2015 posting nothing but conjecture and hearsay then expecting a real discussion STILL c-mming over watch the throne thinking eminem's fans don't mean anything to him debating with someone you feel quote can't be reached intellectually not realizing every line of the song soldier goes through em's head when he starts the third single of the very next album with "i'm supposed to be the soldier..." you're batting a thousand bro
Jan 31, 2015 This is literally the stupidest thing you've ever uttered. Kanye is probably the artist who cares most about this, and you are an idiot if you think otherwise.
Jan 31, 2015 Name a quadruple entendre by Eminem.... Can't well I'll name one from Kanye: "We ain't going anywhere we got suits and cases"
Jan 31, 2015 I'm really happy when a rapper is shouting nonsense on a record, just because it rhymes. It makes me think that I can do it too, and chase my dreams of being the new slim shady. For that alone, Marshall>>.> Kangay haha xd
