Jan 31, 2015Well yeah I agree with that but I was disagreeing(with another poster) that they were originally made with the accent and then rerecorded.
Paul Rosenberg, Eminem's manager and Shady Records president, says there wasn't one defining moment where the planned "Relapse 2" evolved into "Recovery." But a trip designed to work out music for "Relapse 2" produced two songs, Dre's "So Bad" and Mr. Porter's "On Fire," that had a different sound than "Relapse."
"When Em came back home he said he wanted to keep going; he was in the right space to continue recording, and Dre was still in Hawaii to work on his record" ("Detox"), Rosenberg says. "We've been working for a while to get (producer) Just Blaze and Em together and there was some great chemistry there, which ultimately led to us exploring some possibilities that otherwise wouldn't have been there."
Not surprisingly, different personnel led to some varied hip-hop soundscapes. Mid-tempo radio-friendly hits mix and match with underground shockers. Guest spots on the mic include Pink, Rihanna and Lil Wayne.
D12 rapper and producer Denaun Porter, who has worked with Eminem since the mid-'90s and who produced a track on "Recovery" as Mr. Porter, says the album is a clear departure from last year's accent-heavy and dark-themed "Relapse."
"I'm so proud of him for making an album of this caliber," Porter says. "He's been fighting demons in public for a long time and you can't look at this story without seeing something great. From the suburbs to the hood, this is a Detroit story that should touch people. Where I'm from, there's something here for everyone."
That's all I could find for now.

Not true. On Fire was the first song he recorded without the accent and that was confirmed in interviews. So Bad was recorded shortly after that in Hawaii and I highly doubt that Ridaz had an accent and was "rerecorded". That said, if it's true a source would be great.Marshall III, D12Shady, jmillithauglybasedgod and 5 others like this. -

well, it takes a lot of research but chances are pretty good that for any given song without a clear recording timeframe that there's usually an interview or the like from while the song was being mixed where either the artist or the producer likely mentions something giving away their location at the time allowing it to be pinpointed
then it's just a matter of finding out where the song was recorded and you've got your date

Eminem and Dre got in the studio in 2008 and produced 3 albums worth of songs so I always assumed those songs were what would make up Relapse 1 and 2. Beautiful was older and that was the only exception. Eminem said in interviews the only thing they had to do was narrow down which songs were going to be used for Relapse 2. A separate recording session with Dre in 2009 produced songs like So Bad and Ridaz so they may have ended up on Relapse 2 but they wouldn't have fit in with the Relapse theme, then again Old Times Sake and Crack A Bottle from Relapse 1 don't really fit the theme either.
Careful What You Wish For and My Darling were older songs like Beautiful, Forever was a brand new song recorded in 2009 that he just guest featured on, had nothing to do with his albums and I don't think anything else off the Refill was meant for Relapse 2, I think those may have always been leftover tracks. When you think of Relapse 2 you have to think of those original sessions, they're a complete body of work, it would have to come from those sessions and be a continuation of Relapse 1, you can't add Nut Up and even Eminem with Elevator, it has to be Dre produced tracks, it has to have the accents, the serial killer theme.
Those sessions with Dre in Hawaii were only a few months after Relapse came out so for whatever reason he decided not to use accents or that tone on So Bad and Ridaz so it may have just been a natural evolution on his recordings and bare in mind when he recorded So Bad and Ridaz.....it may have been months after Relapse came out but at that point the Relapse songs themselves would have been a year old. New for us but old for him and that's not counting what he was recording and producing on his own, it could be his music sounded a lot different before he got anywhere near Hawaii to record So Bad and Ridaz. My issue is there was the intention for 2 albums, in the Steve Berman skit it is mentioned there are 2 CDs, I know they released the Refill but you had 3 albums worth of songs, even if you didn't give us the real Relapse 2.......you could have filled an 80 minute CD with loads of songs. It didn't need to be 7 songs, they could have gave us more just to make up for it.Winterindecember, FoolishPride and D12Shady like this. -

I think 50 fell off worse than Em tbh. I still enjoy the majority of Marshall's music and he's still one of the highest selling artists out there. Can't say the same about 50. He went from going diamond to being unable to release an album and getting dropped by his label. I don't even check his new s--- when it comes out now.Guma, jmillithauglybasedgod and Elkei like this. -
