Jul 4, 2016 I agree with you in a way. Dre's albums are all so far apart that they're basically from three different eras. And each album is his take on music in those eras. The Chronic is Dre doing rap in early-90s style, 2001 is early-2000s (release in 1999 though), and Compton is mid-2010s or "modern rap" style. I can't stand the majority of modern rap so it makes sense that I can't stand that album.
Jul 4, 2016 The Chronic isn't overrated at all, just misunderstood. It's pretty political, not just cookout music.
Jul 4, 2016 8.5/10 Still my most played project this year. So many moments on here are undeniably good and lockjaw is top 3 songs this year.
Jul 4, 2016 8.0 By far my favorite project this year. French's improvement as a rapper over the years culminates on Wave Gods where he does manage to keep your attention and brings a brilliant cast of guests to add their flavor to this project. All it's missing is a verse from the Wave God himself Max B.
Jul 5, 2016 9/10 The best project this year so far. French really stepped up his rapping, maybe his only solo tape without at least 1-2 weak songs. Every feature came through (even diddy), and songs like Figure it out, Man in my city, Lockjaw, groupie love, old man wildin, miley cyrus have tons of replay value and I havent stopped bumpin them since it dropped.
Jul 5, 2016 Thankfully most of the people with awful opinions don't read the rules so their votes don't count.
Jul 8, 2016 I always enjoyed French's hooks and features but in all honesty I'd never heard a French tape until Wave Gods. Despite all he high profile features, French is still the highlight here, something I honestly didn't really expect going in. It's an easy front-to-back listen, and I'm happy French is getting some recognition for it, because it really is great. 8.2/10
Jul 8, 2016 Based upon 7 ratings, SXN80 gives Waves Gods an 8.6. @RateThisAlbum I picked this out of Soldier's suggestions because it got more mixed reception upon release, so I'm interested to see what people think of it now. [7/8/16] Joey Bada$$ - Summer Knights [2013]
Jul 8, 2016 7.5/10 This was the first joey project i ever heard, some of his best tracks on here like 95 till infinty, my yout, unorthodox, but it definitley has some filler tracks. Cant really call it a good front to back listen but its definitley a solid mixtape and i havent stopped replaying some of these tracks since it dropped.
Jul 8, 2016 6/10. Pretty average and really reminded me he was just a teenager. 1999 may of caused big expectations but this tape never hit me even when I was a big fan. The second side of the tape absolutely mops the floor with the first half kind of making it impossible to listen front/back how I like...
Jul 8, 2016 Very nostalgic though. Use to like this kind of s--- (not specifically this tape) alot freshman-junior in Hs
Jul 8, 2016 Summer Knights isn't as good as 1999, but still an enjoyable listen. Joey can rap pretty well for a young guy. 7.8/10
Jul 8, 2016 7.6/10 I liked this tape more than 1999 but it has such a nostalgic factor to it for me. This was the tape of one of my most fun Summers yet.
Jul 8, 2016 7.8/10 Has some of his best tracks, but is a lot less appealing front-to-back listen than 1999. Still super impressive given how young he was, and the good tracks still get good play from me.
