Fair enough. There's a lot of great aspects to GKMC. I don't feel like its silly to say skits push this album into classic status because its not like its the GOAT album or its flawless. The elements that take this over the edge and into classic status for me are SAMDOT and the skits. I respect your opinion I just don't see how you can believe these are just skits.
These are literally the best skits on any rap album I've ever heard imo and I think they add a lot more to the album than you think.
I'm not sure the movie coming out that is based on GKMC is made if the album didn't have those skits and it was just the music
EDIT: Quote from Kendrick himself
"And I write my songs as stories you would read in a book. I put as much thought into the skits and the structure as the music"

YG used skits in his album too tbh. But it doesnt work cause no one considers YG the savior. -

is this a serious question?
something as miniscule as skits wouldn't prevent an album as great as this from being a classic
skits may bring the overall narrative together but at the end of the day, the actual songs hold 10x more weightDec 20, 2025(This ad goes away when signing up) -

It just goes to show how limited it is trying to pick apart Kendrick, even Papoose had to add a bunch of generic playground insults on his diss record. There are only 2 or 3 tracks (BDKMV, Backstreet, Poetic) that are not 100% transparent with the direction of the album, the rest work with or without skits.
Skits are a small part of what makes GKMC so special.Jordan, MT2 and Nav Bhatia like this.
