Hey everyone for my birthday I thought I would make a thread for everybody to see what I've been jamming to hip hop for not! I'll start off with some quick album reviews most of these are on first listen btw (subject to change)

    Denzel Curry
    • Ta13oo 9.5/10 really strong album I like almost every song
    • ZUU 7.5/10 I only listened once so ineed more listens to feel it out.
    • Unlocked 8/10 I have the same sentiment with this that I have with ZUU this one gets a higher score for experimentation though
    Isaiah Rashad
    • Cilvia demo 9.5/10 I love this album and I feel it will grow on me more and more during subsequent listens
    • The Sun's Tirade 9/10 also extremely strong but it's more of a grower than cilvia demo

    Riff Raff
    • Neon icon 11/10 nuff said.

    Kendrick Lamar
    • Good kid m.a.a.d city ?/10 I just need to listen to this more before I assign a score cause I this was the first kendrick album I listened to so the others are a little fresher in my memory
    • To p---- a butterfly 9/10 it drags in for a bit and there are a couple of songs I'm not fond of but the concept and the execution of said concept makes up for it imo
    • d--- 7.5/10 this has some of the best sounding kendrick songs imo but I think the concepts of the other two help make up for the personal shortcomings of those albums where with this although good doesn't have anything to fall back on
    Tyler, The Creator
    • Flower boy 8/10 I need to listen to this one and more tyler projects a lot more I really liked it on first listen though
    Big sean
    • Detroit 2 7.5/10 I really like a lot of this album but g.d. are there a decent chunk of songs I don't give a s--- about lol
    J.I.D.
    • Dicaprio 2 8/10 really good album he's one of the most interesting rapper I've heard on a technical level

Now for non hip hop new listens
    • The Black Parade 7.5/10 a family member had me listen to this and I just need to listen to it and absorb the concept more I could definitely see this growing on me heavy

    Hayley Williams
    • Petals for armor 6/10 first few songs were really good then the songs turned into paramore but not as good
    • Flowers for vases 6.5/10 better than the last record but by the midway point the songs get a little samey and it drags I appreciate the new style though
    Weezer
    • OK Human 8/10 actually a pretty good album if you're into this sound
https://www.last.fm/user/Jankland/library here's the last.fm roast me all you want lol

Alright that was all the bigger stuff I listened to in the past handful of months if you want me to give more detailed answers for my scores or dive deeper into albums I listened to a while ago and more obscure albums lemme know and I drop an update post! I also need to listen to more of the stuff you suggested to me in my last thread so this is a good place to put it lol

Glad you're enjoying Isaiah Rashad and Denzel Curry @jankland

A lot of people seem to prefer Taboo but I like zuu wayyyyy more personally. It may grow on you too.

Oxymoron and Blank Face LP are usually regarded as his best, so I'd go with one of those

I threw on The Black Parade last night myself randomly, didn’t expect to see that here, it’s stood the test of time against my high school phase a h--- of a lot more than I expected.

Also listened to American Idiot, have you heard it? I think Jesus of Suburbia is one of the greatest pieces of punk rock ever made. 5 parts of pure brilliance.

If you're taking reccs, try listening to these:

    Smino - blkswn
    SABA - Care For Me
    Noname - Telefone

Love your scores, and love that you love Isaiah Rashad's projects so far. Definitely agree on the assessment that TST is a grower.

Isaiah is a great lyricist, I think you will enjoy. He only has two albums so just go in order, Cilvia Demo then The Sun's Tirade.
