Bizzy Banks - very next-up drill star from BK
Blxst - He has that indescribable... something to his sound that only Nate Dogg, T-Pain, Akon, Ty Dolla can do. His album from last year was tremendous, I'm a huge fan and no question he'll be a superstar imo
Bfb da Packman - from the new Michigan/Detroit & Flint wave. He's fat, he doesn't give a single iota of a f--- and he's by far the funniest rapper alive right now.
YN Jay - Also from Flint, also hilarious. Absolutely obsessed with a---. His ad-libs are ridiculous.
Duke Deuce - Remember crunk? This dude's bringing it back.
Hotboii - mentioned him the post above. Huge talent, huge potential.
Pooh Sheisty - hottest new rapper out, pretty much guaranteed a spot on the list. Yet another Gucci protoge, great debut album released in Jan
Pa Salieu - very unique UK/Gambian rapper, dropped an unbelievable album last year.
42 Dugg - from the new Detroit. Blew the f--- up after being featured on 2 massive singles from Lil Baby's album last year. When you hear the whistle thats when you know he's gonna go in lol.

Everyone loves to hate The XXL Freshman List - and with good reason - but I've always been fascinated with it. For most Freshmen, its a rite of passage into the next level of rap stardom. Sure they've got it horribly wrong on multiple occasions, always have some very questionable picks and notable omissions but you can't deny its become a staple of mainstream hip hop in the last 10 years. Plus the freestyles are always fun (so long as you're not ---).

I'm less interested in the final list and more interested in the nominations. Its like a snapshot of everyone who's got the potential to blow up right now and its a pretty wide and diverse list they've got this year. I still don't understand how tf the voting process works for 10th spot and there are some ridiculous exclusions (where tf is Sheff G??) eitherway, it looks like the final list will come from these nominations.

The final list will probably be some combination of tik tok one-hit-wonders/industry plants, an obligatory female or 2 and a few genuine talents, but my personal picks for top 10:

lmao do you mean Hotboii? His accent (and dreads) are similar but he's got his own sound going for sure. He's dropped 2 amazing mixtapes, huge potential to blow up. I'd love to see him make the list

The music video of one of his first hits was filmed at his friends funeral. Its some dark s--- but most of his other music is more upbeat. Check him out.
