    I might also have a grudge cause my brother and I wanted the first one to be a rated R body horror cronenberg style flick

    I 100% get why people like Marvel—and regardless of what I think of it, I do think the idea of such a massive, extended film universe is super cool—but personally I'm not really into it.

    There is nothing worse than Marvel Movies. Maybe except the new woke Disney movies but it’s all garbage. We are in the midst of an entertainment crisis. Streaming has both singlehandedly ruined music, movies, and TV. Books are the only thing still keeping it real.

    Is that Wandavision? I haven't seen the show yet, but most of the Marvel movies don't try to be fake deep imo. Maybe it's just different for me because I love the humor and I am watching Marvel movies since Iron Man 2 in 2010. Those 9 years that follwed after had me hyped more times than I could count but it isn't the same after Endgame. Glad the new movie phase starts soon. Venom was an OK movie but didn't really capture me like that. I barely even remember the plot.

    Nah but—honestly, truly, I'm not trying to be a contrarian or film snob, but man a large chunk of these MCU movie are excruciatingly boring, formulaic, and obviously oversaturated. Venom was at least something different. It was just a dumb action movie and didn't try to be anything other than that. It didn't have fake deep s--- like this lol:

    I'd unironically take the first Venom movie over 90% of the MCU movies. It's just a dumb, fun buddy action movie with a less than 2 hour run time...I got exactly what I wanted and expected lol.
    I love cronenberg so that would have been super dope, I didn't know this was supposed to be rated R originally.

    My expectations aren’t too high, but I love Tom Hardy and Carnage was always a personal favorite of mine growing up

    I’d agree with that. A lot of the movies are very well written (Civil War, Winter Soldier), and then some are just riddled with plot holes (Endgame). They are by far the best looking movies out there and it isn’t even remotely close. There’s just a certain stigma with the genre in general rn, at least that how I perceive it.
