i got my second dose on may 8th. i didn't have any side effects besides a very light headache that went away a few hours after i took some medicine.

i don't have to wear a mask at work anymore and it feels great. even better, the stadiums at sporting events are getting back to normal. many of the games in the NBA Playoffs have had 17,000 fans.

the NBA crowds looking normal again has me optimistic that NFL stadiums will mostly be full this season--and i've got lower level end zone tickets to the Vikings vs. Panthers :grinning:

@Michael Myers is lying. The Dutch get a waffle with a vaccination stamp on it and that’s it.

Ours are all digital. We just download a certificate through our official NHS app. Takes about 2 weeks to generate though so gotta be planned in advance.

I just wish the world would create a digital passport as well. But that's another story.

The difference is the Pandemic really. I never get the annual flu shot or anything like that's because life is moving at 100 miles an hour.

Vaccine to me isn't about protecting myself, it's about doing everything possible to move back to "normal". I don't care if I get the virus, I'll prob feel s--- for a few days and it'll pass. What I do mind though is being told to sit at home without going outside for 10 days and the loss of earnings from not being allowed to work.

@the lyricvore was talking about scoring blow awhile back too...how you gonna not trust a vaccine but you're gonna trust a substance made with gasoline and other chemicals that's commonly cut with cattle dewormer/dirty amphetamines/baby lax/fent/and god knows what else that came across the border from thousands of miles away hidden in someone's prison pocket and then exchanged hands and cut a million more times

It's weird to me that people don't need to wear masks if they're vaccinated. The vaccine protects you, not others. A mask protects others, not you. The 2 should go hand in hand whilst we're (as a world) move up the vaccine %. The vaccine won't stop you catching Covid, just stop it hurting you. You can still pass it on to anyone and possibly k--- people who aren't vaccinated.

I love how individual countries are doing well; US, UK etc but it's the worldwide numbers I'm looking at. The world won't be back to normal until this virus can hurt virtually no one.

Been saying this for a long time now. In 5 years time, the Covid and Flu shot will be either combined in one shot or administered at the same time. The elderly vulnerable will get a call from their local GP every year as a reminder to book and get the shot and everyone else can walk into their local pharmacy and pay £10 to have the shot I'd they want to.

I've personally never bothered with the flu shot as my immune system is fairly good but I think I'll do the flu and Covid every year now if that what helps get the world back to normal.

As my point above, until we get to c.80% fully vaccinated I think this should be the norm. It is in the UK at least at the moment (that may change on the 21st June).

First off, I just wanna say that I don't mean to call you stupid or anything, I'm just wondering your reasoning and am trying to dispel misinformation.

    But you said:
What data have you seen on people dying from the vaccine? Because all of the data I've seen is unscientific because it assumes correlation = causation, which is one of the most basic scientific fallacies. Like a person gets the vaccine and then dies of natural causes four months later, they attribute that to the vaccine when there's nothing to point toward that. It's like saying that because all these people who died took Tylenol in the past six months, that Tylenol is the cause of death. I'm not saying it's impossible that a vaccine could cause someone to have an adverse reaction and k--- them, but there's no data I've seen that points to any sort of high risk so far.

    Source?

It wasn't made in a couple months, it was made with 50+ years of research, knowledge from the entire world collaborating, and information and testing/data they already had from years of working on vaccines for other coronaviruses that act the same.

I agree with you here—but to be clear I'm talking about his views on prioritizing patent/IP rights for life-saving medicine over, well, saving lives, and not about some sort of 5G/microchip conspiracy theory. But this shouldn't have anything to do with the vaccine's effectiveness tbh.

Well, in medicine nothing is ever 100% safe. There's virtually always a risk of side effects because everyone's body chemistry is different, and you and your doctors have to decide if the risk outweighs the rewards. With vaccines, the reward greatly outweighs the risk in most cases.

Trust me, I'm well aware that pharmaceutical companies have done lots of terrible things, I only asked for sources on that infographic because infographics without sources often contain misleading information. For example, it says Moderna has never brought an approved vaccine to the public...but Moderna has only been a company for around 10 years. Considering most vaccines take 10-15 years of research and trials, that shouldn't really be a point against them. I suppose you could take that as them being not experienced enough, but with regard to the COVID vaccine, you have to realize two things:

    1. They didn't start from scratch in 2020. Scientists have been studying coronaviruses for 50+ years and had been working on vaccines for other coronaviruses for a long time as well.
    2. The entire world was collaborating on this. Like we were collaborating with Cuban doctors, and our government tells us we should hate Cuba every day lol.

And obviously this is anecdotal, but one of my good friends literally worked on making the vaccine at Moderna. If the people who are making the vaccine are confident enough in it to take it themselves, that's good enough for me.

It's less about protecting yourself and more about protecting the populace at large. But you already had COVID so you probably have antibodies anyway.

My question though: what are you afraid of happening if you were to get the vaccine?
