Found myself revisiting Em's first 3 albums again recently and as always, absolutely mindblown at how insanely good they are. I still like some of his post-hiatus music but Jesus, I'm not sure there's ever been such a decline in quality spanning a single career. Cut it off at TES/8Mile and I'm still convinced he's Top 5 DOA. s--- even throw Encore and Relapse in the mix and he's still one of the greatest to have ever done it. Almost everything that came after that just diminishes the impact so much though. Its like a completely different artist. But credit where its due, for a few years back then he was an easy contender for best rapper alive.Guma, lil uzi vert stan, Step Daddy and 1 other person like this. -

The song Darkness has creativity and storytelling that's on par with (or at least close to) Stan.
He can make good songs. But most of them nowadays aren't.Alpha, Ordinary Joel, hargydon and 1 other person like this. -

Early in his career, Em has thrived off of conflict and challenge (the struggle of being an underground rapper, the struggle of fame, his marriage, upbringing, beefs with other celebs, looking for acceptance), and he used that as fuel and motivation to make great songs.
But now he's at the top of the food chain and run out of predators.Last edited: Jul 28, 2021lil uzi vert stan, Ordinary Joel, Chrollo and 1 other person like this. -

50 Cent would be a prime example of someone who hasn't evolved. I love 50 but the music he makes still sounds like it's from 2005. That's just not the case with Eminem. And that's why Em is still relevant in this day and age.
Take MMLP, TES, Relapse, Recovery etc... You couldn't have more different sounding albums.Don Marshall, hargydon, lil uzi vert stan and 1 other person like this. -

Em is inconsistent. He has a high floor and a low ceiling. He can be very good, and very bad. In the past 10 years, he's had some good verses and songs, but his albums aren't cohesive.Last edited: Jul 28, 2021Ordinary Joel, Chrollo, Wreckless and 1 other person like this. -

Hit boy did good with nas and nas was also really down before like em. Hit boy would do wonders imagine the beats from the last nas album with eminem on it and eminem doesn‘t rap silly punchlines and brainless doubletimesMystery Man, Ordinary Joel, Wreckless and 1 other person like this. -
