    Second floor is definitely the worst. Neighbors above and below. Maybe even on each side.

    As the title says.

    Basement pros:
    - Cooler in the summer
    - Less stairs
    - Often cheaper to rent

    Basement cons:
    - Colder in the winter/Higher heating costs
    - Less sunlight
    - More insects
    - Neighbors living above

    Top floor pros:
    - Lots of sunlight
    - Less insects
    - No neighbors above
    - Better view

    Top floor cons:
    - Hot in the summer
    - More stairs

    Some people I know seem to swear by basement units. Anytime they move out or rent a place it's a basement.

    I on the other hand can't stand having people live above me. Been renting top floors for the past 6-7 years and would never go back to a basement unit.

    So which one do you like best?

    Of course this only applies to people living in an appartment or condo.
