    I'm with you—in a perfect world the USA should be taking literally anyone who wants to leave and lord knows "criticism" doesn't even begin to describe what we deserve lol. But the reality is we're not gonna do that because crusty old white ladies are afraid of mexicans living in their summer home in Minnesota during the winter or whatever. I'm just saying if other countries are really concerned with Afghanistan and its people their doors should be open too especially if they want their anti-Taliban stance to be anything beyond posturing.

    Yeah, in a perfect world it would be that easy the problem is extremists and economical migrants are blending in with these big masses of people. So it's not that easy to take in just people fleeing from war. Also Europe isn't that big and when we are connected with all of those countries it's just not feasible for us to take in everyone. Same goes with providing them with opportunities to get a job and have a stable life here. That's a recipe for a failed integration.

    Correct me if I'm wrong (which I very well might be, I'm not a historian) but wasn't it a bit of a shitshow prior to us going over there 20 years ago?

    I thought Russia was up in there trying to take it over before we even thought about going over there...not that that makes our addition to the mess any less impactful.

    Idk, I was mainly saying my original post because I saw a headline that was like "New Zealand president urges Taliban to maintain human rights during transition of power"...like wtf is New Zealand gonna do if they don't?

    On a positive note, it's a bit of a relief to actually see Americans agree on a single topic (Taliban = bad) for once in a long while.

    With all the politics and s--- happening over here, it's nice to see most everyone on the same page.

    Hoping this all gets resolved in a way that results in the least violence. We've got a long way to go.
