    Oct 16, 2021
    New trailer came out today.

The film is being directed by Matt Reeves, who wrote the screenplay with Peter Craig. It stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne / Batman, alongside Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell. Set in his second year of fighting crime, the film sees Batman uncover corruption in Gotham City while facing a serial killer known as the Riddler.

Recently rewatched and I still liked it the same. I think a lot of people were maybe looking for something else in a superhero/Batman movie; I thought the noir/thriller direction was a perfect route for the character.

I imagine the sequel will look a lot like the 3rd act.

tdk > this > Batman begins > tdkr, for me

Goodtime is the movie I use to try to put people on Pattinson since this casting happened. He really is one of the best working actors today.

Give me 1 definable reason why Jim Gordon has to be white. There is nothing in his character that requires him to have a specific race. Baby.

Almost made this thread. Both trailers have been 10/10. If neither have convinced you on Pattinson, then idk what to tell you.

Never been more sure that a movie is going to be a classic.

I was mad at the LOTR trilogy for not using actual hobbits and elves. Was even more disgusted when I found out Michael C Hall who plays Dexter, isn't an actual serial killer. It's like they're pretending to be someone they're not. Kind of like an actor which really bothers me. Imagine if they casted white people to play other races. That would never happen

Looks fantastic. Been dying for The Riddler to be used in a more serious role too.

That’s Greig Fraser. He’s done Zero Dark Thirty, Rogue One, the new Dune, and won an Emmy award for his work on The Mandalorian.

Cinematography in the trailer alone looks insane.

Willing to bet most of y’all who are complaining:
-never read a single comic book ever
-are too used to the flashy cgi and forced humor that Marvel offers

Yeah it's just different expectations, I was looking at the marketing of this movie and it's exactly what the director described it being which is what had me excited.

I think the movie seems to be divisive cause of different interpretations of what Batman is supposed to be as a character, obviously there's more overall criticisms of the movie itself structurally or what have you, but I noticed what i said in the discourse a little.

I personally disagree on the too emo take, it's all a matter of opinion but I like that the riddler isn't scary after he takes the mask off he just looks like a Jeffery Dahmer type trying to be tough and I also enjoy that Batman's arc in this movie is about becoming the actual more comic accurate representation of the character.

I think they did a good job not spelling the backstory of everything out and not making this an origin story again cause that s--- is boring now tbh.

Not perfect or without it's faults by any means but I think it's the most pure Batman we've gotten in a while, the whole approach just oozes with the style of a graphic novel.

Sorry for using your comment as an excuse to write an essay I just wanted to get my thoughts out in a place that isn't a vaccum (i.e. my house lol)

Thanks finally someone with reason. Most people acted like Batman slowly walking around a crime scene until someone handed him the Riddler card for 80% of the movie was "some classic Batman detective work". The characters and acting were all great but I've never looked at my watch more times than during this film

Finally got a chance to watch this. I appreciate the different take on Batman, but wasn't a big fan. For how slow the movie was, it was entirely too long. The action scenes, especially the end was very anticlimactic. Riddler was a really good character though. I honestly didn't feel like I was watching a Batman movie even though this was probably the most screen time Batman has gotten in any of the movies. For how slow the story was and the direction/special effects I felt like I was watching a Max Payne movie with Batman, minus the bullet time. I'd watch if they make sequels to this but I probably wouldn't sit through another 3 hours to ever watch this again. Not even close to TDK trilogy imo
