We don't want our kids to think they might be involved in a racist system but we'll force them into the bathroom of our choosing and lol @ them if they get pregnant.

One of the weirdest things about Texas that always bothered me was their “we aren’t gonna let government tell you what to do” attitude but then pull s--- like this.

"Along with the letter, which was first obtained by The Texas Tribune, Krause appended the book list that includes well-known titles like the Pulitzer Prize-winning William Styron novel, “The Confessions of Nat Turner” and best-sellers that were turned into movies or television series, such as John Irving’s “The Cider House Rules,” Alan Moore’s dystopian “V For Vendetta,” and the graphic novel version of Margaret Atwood’s “The Handmaid’s Tale.”

The Nat Turner one makes sense and I guess Cider House Rules is 'pro abortion' and Handmaid's Tale is anti Christian fundamentalism but the V for Vendetta seems weird and really isn't doing them any favours. For as much as they hate being called fascists by libs for everything they do, trying to cancel some popular old anti fascism dystopia novel is like.. going out of your way to give liberals steady infinite supply of literallyfascism ammo. Not to mention cancel culture hypocrisy

Texas doing the dem's 2024 campaign for them lately

Continuing to whitewash their history instead of acknowledging it & denouncing it will only come back to bite them in the a--- in the digital age.

Conservative thinking is so stuck in the past that they cannot envision all these children accessing truths through the internet to which they’re wired from birth engaging in & coming to realise/being horrified from their childhood education being essentially a brainwashing programme that they will completely disassociate themselves with national pride/identity & move more towards ‘radical’ leftism.

I don’t know how they come to the conclusions that stuff like this is a well-thought-out long-term idea other than a dash to preserve a dying, outdated ideology.

The Republican Party has largely become a no-policy party. They don’t run on anything policy related. They create fake boogeymen with their propaganda apparatus & fear monger their way to win elections. Primarily by targeting white voters. Any kind of teaching of slavery, Jim Crow, segregation etc. is framed as an attack on white identity; attack on patriotism; attack on masculinity etc. It’s sadly effective.

    True enough, but...
The Republican Party in 2021 the party of white identity? LOL. Talk about a fake bogeyman. Even in 2016 that claim would have been laughable. No doubt the Democrats' fear mongering about white nationalism has worked wonders on you, and it has for some time. You actually thought it was problematic when Trump said he was proud to be part German. But that's not just being brainwashed, that's being insecure. Imagine feeling threatened by another man's ethnic pride. Pathetic scum lmao.
Nobody says this, you braying jackass.

You would be surprised…the most anti-vaccine demographic are young Republicans! Old Republicans are as likely to get vaccinated as young Democrats! Their propaganda definitely reaches a wide swath of people.

Conservatives have been fear mongering about non-white folks since the foundation of this country. They’ve done this as members of both major parties btw: pre-Civil Rights era with the Democratic Party (Chinese Exclusion Act; Dismissing Jewish refugees during the Holocaust; Segregation, KKK etc.) & now the Republican Party (Latino immigrants, African-American civil rights, War on Drugs etc.). You have Tucker Carlson literally pushing white supremacist talking points (“great replacement theory”) on the most watched cable news program in the country. Prior to that, Donald Trump calling the Charlottesville white nationalists “good people” & more recently for the proud boys to “stand back & stand by.” White nationalism is deeply imbedded in the Republican Party, this is not even debatable anymore. They don’t even care about democracy anymore. You have Republican politicians defending the January 6th insurrectionists.

Republicanism is consumed with masculinity. Not just on issues with race but everything…

I'm the only one who votes Democrat on the crew I worked with this summer... when COVID19 hit us in September out of the 10 of us only me and the two 60+ year old guys were vaccinated... everyone knew I was vaccinated... but everyone was surprised the two old guys were since they listen to talk radio all day and watch OANN and Newsmax.

We also didn't miss a month of work like the 3 guys who got sick did.

All you've shown here is that white nationalism, or white racism, is deeply embedded within the history of this country, which is partly true. But you've failed to show that conservatives today any more meaningfully racist than progressives (who, tellingly, have no problem with anti-Latino rhetoric when it serves their cause). You give the usual talking points, but they rely more on fear-mongering hyperbole than truth for their persuasive value.
Whatever, but I don't think anyone outside your imagination characterizes teaching about slavery as an attack on masculinity. That claim is just bizarre.
    Neither do you, apparently:

What are the books? I’m sure they have a good reason to ban these books. Kids shouldn’t be reading Harry Potter and they shouldn’t be reading propaganda like Fahrenheit 411. What we do need to add to schools across the nation is The Bible.

You’re failing to see how the party that’s doubled down on Donald Trump & embracing politicians like Marjorie Taylor Greene while outcasting others like Liz Cheney is embracing white nationalism? Conservative media figures are literally doing a victory tour with Kyle Rittenhouse because he killed 2 people at a BLM protest last year. When the more prominent figures in your party become anti-Semitic conspiracy theorists, what exactly do you think is taking place?

That’s not to mention the fear mongering applied to latino immigrants. Trump calling Mexican immigrants “rapists & murderers;” screaming about caravans; conservative media figures suggesting that we’re being “invaded” by latino immigrants etc.

This kind of rhetoric is the dehumanizing s--- you hear prior to genocide.

Republicans complain about masculinity being attack all the d--- time. Black people were enslaved & segregated because they were seen as less than human. Inferior to white men. One of the most prominent talking points during the Jim Crow era was that segregation needed to be preserved to keep white women & children safe from Black men who were made out to be savages & that white men had to be their protectors. Masculinity has been deeply intertwined with the conservative movement forever.

I think all citizens (& even noncitizens in some instances) deserve the right to vote. I think voting is probably our most sacred right that really shouldn’t be infringed at all. I support allowing ex-cons & prison inmates to vote. I think the John Lewis Civil Rights Act & For the People Act should both be passed today. The Republican Party is preventing these pro-democracy reforms from happening.
