This is an ideal album for me; short and straight to the point. Freddie Corleone doesn't know how to make bad music, every verse has a purpose.
Dude is a chameleon it's like he can blend in with the production and replicate the intensity of his words/flow with it, that's what I've always found remarkable about Gibbs.Mike Tyson, Ordinary Joel, Soldier and 2 others like this. - Nov 19, 2025

Freddie Gibbs is a Gary, Indiana native born "just a hop, skip and a jump from the Chi". His influences range from the local and forgotten Psycho Drama to the mythic candy painted stylings of UGK to the graphic gospels of Scarface and (obviously) Pac.
The seminal project Pinata, alongside Madlib, brought attention to a rapper whose success was anything but instantaneous. Interscope wouldn't ink the deal. Jeezy wouldn't put out his project. So Gibbs put out a string of solid mixtapes, made ESGN a brand as well as a movement, and all without selling his soul. He's currently working with Drake affiliates in Toronto on the sound for his next project due later this year.

He found his niche most importantly and he's just churning out music that he's clearly happy with, it's shown considering all his last releases have been at least aoty contenders and he still got Bandana in the chamber as well.
