    Yeah TLOP was a "tidal exclusive" that went platinum on Pirate Bay before being upped to Spotify and apple music lol

    I'm so confused by this though when I checked the site it looked like it was all still for Donda 1. Is he legitimately implying that people are gonna need to buy a stem player for this??? If so that's perhaps the dumbest decision he has ever made (which is saying a lot). If he's just making it exclusively available for download on his site and the stem player is optional it's whatever—it would be cool if he did like Radiohead did for In Rainbows and make it pay what you want but I doubt it lol. He's gonna make most of his money from merch anyway.

    In theory I agree with kanye that streaming is overall bad for both fans and the artist (and the industry in general), however...making people buy a stem player is very much not the way to do it, to put it lightly. The allure of streaming is accessibility and this is one of the least accessible ways to release music I can think of.

    I'm all for sticking it to Spotify but he could still put it on everything except Spotify and it'd still accomplish hurting Spotify without completely dicking the fans, right?

    imo there's no point in upping it to one streaming service and not the other if the goal is to say f--- streaming. They all f--- up the industry for fans and artists alike.

    If it's not on streaming everyone's gonna pirate it anyway so he might as well just make it free or do pay what you want along with the stem player. People will still buy the setm player because kanye fans will buy anything and this way people still have easy access to the music.

    Would be really cool if a bunch of artists of this size abandoned streaming until they got better rates for all artists but I doubt that's gonna happen. Would make a huge difference for smaller artists.

    If enough big artists pull their new releases off Amazon, Spotify and Apple Music, etc…maybe the streaming services will take the hint and start paying artists more.
