you're making this a hyperbolic, either-or thing, when it isn't. 50 was hugely impactful on new york--he sold ten million albums. but he was a national artist. cam was remarkably impactful (moreso, i'm arguing) in new york.

dipset was doing the mixtape thing concurrently with g-unit, by the way.

    j. cole (from north carolina) is a better new york rapper than biggie? pac is a technicality, you dolt. he was born in new york, he's not a new york rapper. asap rocky and joey badass are better than ghostface and mf doom and nas? f---ing talib kweli is better than kool g rap? never ever talk about rap music again you're a disgrace

if i were doing a list like this, there's no way i'd leave rakim off the list. the albums he did with eric B alone make him worthy IMO

with that said, there are a LOT of really good rappers from NY....so i understand perfectly well that crafting a list like this is NOT easy. it's HARD.....i get that

Would it be farfetched to see Mos Def on here? Black On Both Sides & Blackstar are fantastic projects.

to be fair Luke doesn't listen to any music before 2000 because it sounds too old and groups confuse him.

    J. Cole being from New York isn't an opinion, it's factually incorrect.

it's an ill-informed, ill-conceived opinion. you have abysmal taste and are the worst kind of 15-year-old i hope the girl you awkwardly facebook stalk asks your worst enemy to sadie hawkins
