You pretty much have to watch the original seasons plus the movie beforehand. That isn't to say the new season can't be appreciated on its own, but you'd be even more lost than we were if you dove right in without seeing the originals.

The first season is short and mostly great all around. The second season starts strong then fizzles out somewhere in the middle, before rebounding in the final few episodes, including the haunting finale. The movie is a prequel, but should still be viewed after the first two seasons. The latest season uses much of the movie as a foundation, so it's definitely recommended to watch beforehand. The movie is also some sort of bizarre masterpiece so it's certainly worth it.

This much pretty much upended and exceeded all of my expectations. That final moment is an all-timer. Best film/tv show/work of moving image that I've seen this year.

This was like the universe sequence in The Tree of Life or the star gate sequence in 2001: Space Odyssey, but instead playing out like a Lynchian nightmare.

    God level.

Lynch is the goat for selling this to a TV network as "Twin Peaks Season 3" just so he could make a brand new 18 hour film.

Why is there so little buzz about the new season of this show? I thought it would be much more discussed while I was searching for this thread. Btw, I'm in the end of season 2 and I'm definitely hooked on this and am very appreciative of the classic values of the show but some of the scenes look like they were copy-pasted from the low budget movies.

Just finished the pilot/movie "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me".
I wish more shows started this way, with a cinematic preface. Completely hooked me in.
Special Agent Dale Cooper is already one of my favorite characters in TV history.
This is only the second David Lynch feature I've caught. Really hope they bring the series back on Showtime.
