I know you didn't listen to any of it cuz you'd prob like the Mavi album. You might also like Larry June or Drakeo.

Kendrick is defffff not the new generation anymore.

Rap moves so fast in this era it's hard to even pin down who should be considered the new school. You have that post-Thug/post-future guys like NBA Youngboy/Lil Baby/Gunna heading the mainstream but even they're 5 years in at this point.

There's a lot of regional/subgenre stuff going on. One of the most obvious newer ones is the Whole Lotta Red-inspired rage movement with Carti obviously being the lead innovator and guys like Yeat, Ken Carson, Destroy Lonely, SoFaygo, ATL Smook, Cochise following in the footsteps of that (which also built upon Thug/Future/etc ofc). And then there's all the Michigan rappers who are super influential all around — I mean Yachty made a whole a--- tape dedicated to it. Plus the west coast stuff I'll get into below. I kinda got off topic but I already typed this so whatever lmao.

I like this attitude. When people say all new music sucks they're just not looking hard enough — and I'm not trying to insult anyone or be pretentious or anything when I say that. People get older and they don't have as much time to check for new music or they're not as passionate about it anymore. Life happens. It doesn't mean the good stuff isn't there. The dominant style might not be their speed but there will always be stuff out there for you.

Like you mentioned you're a big west coast fan and there's a HUGE west coast scene right now that encompasses both the sort of neo G-Funk traditionalist movement as well as a new sound with people following the lead of Drakeo/Greedo/etc.

You have major depressive disorder and can't function without antipsychotic medications. You are in no position to judge my mental health, you loon.

What are you talking about? This post had literally nothing to do with your or my mental health. Also Wellbutrin is an antidepressant not an antipsychotic — if you're going to make a dig at my mental health at least know what medication I take.

It is absolutely wild how Youngboy is literally never even brought up on this forum, he is easily the most popular rapper in the world right now

It feels like Hip Hop's death, hope Nas will drop something good at least. One of the worst years for rap, no doubt.

people have been using “how bad” mainstream hip hop is as a reason for hip hop “dying” since literally the 80’s, it’s silly.

I don't even see Travis making a big comeback unless someone helps him again like Drake did last time.

The thing is Hip Hop hasn't been mainstream lately, it's going back to underground lol. It's even hard to remember the last big rap song that wasn't by a female rapper. It was probably that Jack Harlow track and people only love the hook lol
