So glad you posted this. I thought about it but I didn’t think anybody here would care. I never listened to Quadeca like that before until I caught wind of Born Yesterday, and I thought it was incredible. I think I like Tell Me A Joke even more. This type of vibe is right up my alley. Him going from a corny YouTube rapper to this is astonishing. I love the experimentationOrdinary Joel, scooba, FiveOh1 and 1 other person like this. -

Since 2018 Quadeca (a YouTube rapper best known for his series styles of rap where he impersonates other artists) has been trying to break out of the stereotypical YouTube rapper mold by becoming more experimental in his music and beats which he fully produces himself.
His upcoming release I Didn't Mean To Haunt You is a concept album about Quadeca dying and is a "posthumous" album from the perspective of his ghost.
Combining this concept with his own blend of glitchpop, shoegaze, folk singer/singerwriter, and rap and you get his first single which includes a sample from The Beatles song "For No One" and is from the perspective of his spirit mourning his living mother:
His second and more simple single of the two Tell Me A Joke:
Now I don't think anyone else is interested in this besides @FiveOh1 and I but I figured I'd make this if anyone is interested!Last edited: Nov 10, 2022Ordinary Joel, scooba, FiveOh1 and 1 other person like this.(This ad goes away when signing up) -

@jankland now I know you have great taste! I’ve been following quadeca since Voice Memos and his progression is insane. This latest album build up has had me hyped, and this new project has lived up to it. It has so many creative ideas, different sounds, is emotionally touching and is concise. Funny enough I mentioned him on the Eminem thread a couple times, but was met with crickets everytime. @Pandemic since you were wondering he rapped here and there on the album but not a lot at all, and not really for a whole song.Ordinary Joel, Ripper Roo and Pandemic like this. -

9/10. I love the soundscape, and even though almost every track is super long they don’t feel long. The transitions between some of the tracks were pretty smooth. I just wish the vocals were clearer sometimes. I know it’s part of the style, but at certain moments I got really annoyed at not being able to make out what he was saying. Also, that last track was cool and all but I’m skipping it every time lol.
Other than those two complaints, I love the project. I’m going through dark times in my life and am currently obsessed with death so this really resonates with me, especially fantasyworld. Knots and fantasyworld are my favorite tracks, and that 3 track run from knots to fractions of infinity was the best part of the album.Ordinary Joel, CPR12345 and jankland like this. -

I think he can still fall under the corny label a lot with his flows and punchlines but even through that his production is great.
And here's a weird a--- feature that I enjoy that people don't like very much.Ordinary Joel, FiveOh1 and Pandemic like this.
