Jun 6, 2015After listening to Phenomenal, the first thing I though was "Are my headphones that bad?", but it turned out that the song itself is very poorly mixed. I used to mess with GarageBand, and even I could make my projects sound better. At first I thought that the third verse should've had more emotions, maybe more yelling to express the last part, but after few listens the whole song grew on me. It's not the best single because verses are short and mixing is horrible, but I would say it's good. The chorus sounds just like Em from Eminem Show era. His recent 2009-now hooks have been great and even much better than in his 2000s era. What he really needs is to come up with more simple rhymes and make a very simple flow like back in the days. His yesmen need to realize that it's not about the ability and new skills, but the regular flow and more sense of humor. Even if he ran out of things to talk about he can travel around the world with a freaking cover on his face that would make him look different. Talk to people, party it up, travel, discover new places, buy a boat, go to waterpark, get all the amusement. Then get inspired and make new songs. But please no fast flow.

I think he still has it in him. He's experimenting with new things but unfortunately those things aren't really working out. He's not one to make two albums that sound the same so I'm almost positive the next album will be a step away from the fast flow and choppy flow.
Phenomenal in my opinion, was good. BUT the song was TERRIBLY mixed. They need to get Dre to do all the mixing from now on. I don't think Phenomenal is a sign of the next album simply because it was made for a soundtrack... and I bet it was recorded around the same time as Guts Over Fear. In fact, I believe both of those songs were recorded for this film but GOF got cut so they put it on XV. It would make sense because ShadyXV, as Paul said, was a compilation of songs with no home.
He's proven on Relapse that he can flow, Recovery that he can flow with no accents, MMLP2 that he can rap without SCREAMING through entire songs... he just needs to put the right pieces together and we'll get a very good album.Sodium Chloride, SLAYAR, Jimelej and 2 others like this. -

One does not lose the ability to make good music. He must travel deep inside himself to find it. which i am 100% confident he will be able to make another great album. Time will tell if i am right or wrong. -
