Jun 13, 2015i made a thread (this thread, the one you read and are now posting in). the thread is about the greatest five-year runs rappers or rap groups have ever had. you posted in this thread, saying that i made it for the sole purpose of excluding eminem.
i told you that's ridiculous. of course "listen to more music" is condescending. i meant to be condescending. your post is ridiculous. i stand by the spirit of it though--i listed some of the greatest acts in the history of the genre and you're fixating on one dude who is overexposed anyway and on whom my opinions are pretty well known.
his name was not even in my head when i made this thread. the idea occurred to me while reading @Narsh and @Final debate thug and wayne. that was the impetus.
i forgot tribe in my initial post. they belong in there (and would be in the upper echelon if you stretched it 1991-96). why aren't you complaining about that? why is eminem the natural endpoint of every conversation on here? there are kids out there driving with learner's permits who were born after his last good album.
EDIT: this goes for @ozy too. i sound like preemo telling kids to get off his lawn, but i'm annoyed and frustrated that a thread that begins with some of the greatest rap music ever made devolves into people arguing about eminem. it's not about him. he's irrelevant to this. if you think he belongs in there, you're wrong, but fine, state your case. just know this wasn't done to slight him. there are other rappers.

I don't understand why everyone needs WPG's co sign on Eminem so badly. Just let it go. -

Another interesting wpg thread ruined by people demanding he put Eminem in - some of you take it so personally like he's a soccer coach that won't put your kid in a game
On-topic: I have none to add outside the ones mentioned that I can think of, maybe Ludacris 1999-2003? -

false. from 1999 till around 2003, eminem and his presence completely dominated the entertainment industry period. He signed 50 Cent too, made all that s--- happen in 2003. D12 had a solid presence. MMLP and TES both went diamond. 8 Mile happened. Lose Yourself became ubiquitous as probably the most well known song of this genre to date. the n----- wins an oscar. MMLP becomes the fastest selling album period, in any genre to date. and the skills of eminem during this era were unquestionable. From 1999 to 2003, eminem was hip-hop, if you are denying this then you're a bitter hating a--- lil b---- n----- -
