Nov 24, 2024 at 2:43 AM Section Eighty officially opened to the public on November 23rd, 2014. 10 years to the date. J Cole Nation and Studio Leaks had just closed their doors and forces were combined. At the time, it was Myself, Hasman, & Koolo, aided by Akaash, Jay, ODB, Paidy, Poly, & Shiva; moderated by M Solo, Mano, Ryan, Swizz, & WPG. If you love this place, give them a hug, because they helped lay the early brick and mortar that’s shaped the site ever since. Launching wasn’t an easy task — we were essentially building the plane while flying it, using out-of-the box styles & themes and learning about servers, coding, & database entries as they needed to occur. It wasn’t until sometime in late December that a proper v1.0 actually launched. Night theme was still months away. It was a chaotic and lovely time. For me, like many others, the community goes back much farther than that. I searched as far as my files allowed and discovered that it was this month, back in 2004 that I joined the board at D12 World. Keeping the lights on at SXN80 for 10 years is no small achievement and is likely worth celebrating, but it’s worth acknowledging that some of us have been together for 2X+ that amount of time. Many of y’all have been an active community for >50% of your lives — that is certainly worth celebrating. We wouldn't be here without you all, so a huge thank you to everyone who's contributed throughout the years -- whether it be a single post, a share, or a nod, it keeps the community alive. Also, a huge shoutout to our current staff for continuing to keep this place moving forward: @Chrollo , @Chuny , @DKC , @JMG , @Michael Myers , @rapmusik , @Sign Language , @Yeez I’d like to invite you to share some of your greatest hits in this thread. I’ll start here: Lostie takeover (RB.) Shoutout @M.I.C. for blessing us with his Lost inspired mixtapes “Check your mics” (SL) Group live streaming police radios following the Boston Marathon bombing, attempting to sleuth the whereabouts of the bomber “You’re not allowed to” (SL) The first time I’ve seen the board band together, in perfect unison, to troll a new member. A thread was created, a question was asked, and it was followed by a dozen pages of everyone simply posting “You’re not allowed to.”. It was a thing of beauty. J Cole tweeting our blog Being an uncited source in XXL Consecutive call-ins from members on Shade45, shouting out SXN80 ...it’s serendipitous that on the eve of Section Eighty’s decennial birthday, Kendrick Lamar, whose title work we're coined after, dropped a surprise album. Nov 24, 2024 at 2:53 AM Many friendships formed through this community, and many artists and genres of music that I wouldn't have even checked out if it wasn't for the recommendations and platform to be able to discuss their music here. Can't believe it's been a decade and can't believe I've stuck around for this long. Love the A1's and here's to a decade more.

Nov 24, 2024 at 4:31 AM I think it was probably 2014 when I was lurking on HipHopShelter and posting on r/Eminem - I joined here a few years later during the Revival build-up and marketing though wasn't too active and eventually would end up only checking this place once in a blue moon From then I pretty much ran the Eminem Discord Community from September 2018 until mid-2022 when I left I also had the opportunity to moderate in some of leak GBs too, hearing b--- OG before it got leaked publicly a few days later and essentially caused the leak drought we've had since Ever since I've been super active on here watching the TDOSS rollout and all the other chaos ensue, there's a great community here and it's been hella fun

Nov 24, 2024 at 8:55 AM It's a testament to the quality of this board and its posters that this forum is still even a thing in 2024. The only other forums I use are sports/football related and this is BY FAR the best I've ever been on. The aesthetics, ease of use and interface is perfect. Credit to everyone involved. SL was goated but I'm glad we still have SXN80. The DoSS rollout was a highlight, proper rolled back the years. Love you guys man.
