Jun 23, 2015 Ever since Recovery, Eminem has had numerous lines in his songs and features that are directed at an unnamed female. These lines drift away from the subject of the song and serve no purpose other than providing a place for a hit or miss punchline. I'll just quote some because he has alot "Baby what the deal we can chill split a pill and a happy meal/ f--- a steak slut ill cut off my toes and step on the receipt before i foot the bill" "Look you little slut c---- whor- i know you want more/ b---- its time to put the math back in the Mathers cus im a f---in problem, run boy" "Shorty you're fine but you sorta remind me of a 49er/ cause you've been a gold digger since you were a minor" "Tango? What you think, ho?/ Slow dancing or bowling? You tryna hold hands wit ya homie?/ You think im lookin for romance cus im lonely?/ Change that tune, you got a remote chance to control me/ ho" " Alert Alert, girl alert/ once you enter in my house of pain you're in a world of hurt/...keep that a--- shakin/ came to hit you with a fan favorite/ but if you're too fly for coach better get them arms and freakin hands flailing and/ jump like Van Halen and pray for a d--- tailwind" Those are just off the top of my head. I just thought of one from Throw it Up but I think 5 quotes will suffice. Why Em? Who the f--- are you talking about?
Jun 23, 2015 Oh look another thread thats been made countless times talking about the bad rather than the good just the thread needed to bring discussion to SL
Jun 23, 2015 Im just wondering who he's directing these lines to and why he insists on doing it so much. Im sure others have wondered too. So yes this is a good thread to spark discussion.
Jun 23, 2015 Doesn't every rapper has some random off-topic lines in their songs? It really doesn't bother me at all
Jun 23, 2015 I think this chick has as much chance of being an actual person as 'the club' mentioned in 70% of rap songs has of being an actual place.
Jun 23, 2015 Yep. I remember being so bugged by J Cole's 2nd verse in Apparently having nothing to do with the 1st one or the subject in general. I think it bothers me because I overthink alot. Im always trying to understand the purpose and intricacies of things
Jun 23, 2015 Your'e reaching too much man. You've listened to rhyme or reason right?? Well listen properly then. The whole song is literally about there not always being a reason for a certain rhyme, despite the fact that so many people are desperate to find one! Somtimes, s--- just rhymes well and sounds good/funny or whatever. Not every line in every verse has to have some deep ulterior meaning or metaphor attached to it.
Jun 23, 2015 Yea im hip. I understood what it was about when I heard it. Underrated track too. But it still doesn't stop me from over analyzing stuff lol
Jun 23, 2015 I assumed the same thing too. Either hip hop, one of his ex's or just some random person.
Jun 23, 2015 Don't get it twisted. I don't bash Em or always try to find the negative. This was just something I thought about when I noticed it. I actually enjoy post-hiatus Em
Jun 24, 2015 "Filler lines" that's an first. These types of threads are an abomination to forums. Those lines most likely play into some rhyme scheme. I spoke about this before, you can't pick out single words. You must see the scheme as a whole then judge it. Besides, if Eminem raps filler lines of nameless women.. the same can be said about almost every other rapper that talks about hoes.
Jun 24, 2015 I know all about rhyme schemes but there's more to rap music then just rhyming words. Em has substance but sometimes he just goes off on a tangent because the words rhyme. I appreciate his schemes but when lines are only there to fufill a scheme its filler. Eminem isn't every other rapper. He's one of the greats so his lyrics are on a pedestal. He has a much higher standard than every other rapper so that's just a bad excuse
Jun 24, 2015 I think he's just got a problem with most women in general You can't really blame him for that though
Jun 24, 2015 Pretty much. It's ridiculous. It's gotten to the point where Eminem is hiding behind his alter ego to barely scrap together a sentence, much less offend middle america like he used to. Eminem pretty much gets a pass to write whatever inane random unoriginal stupid s--- he wants (like his Throw It Up verse) because he's Eminem.
