At this point a good chunk of the industry attempts to either have a similar sound, flow or cadence like Future. Personally speaking I don't see Travis' style really being extremely derivative if that's the whole point of this "Travis bites artist X", I don't think anyone can deny the influence but if it doesn't get in the way of enjoying the music then I don't see the problem. I'd be enjoying more of Kool G Rap & Rakim than Nas if that were to always be the case.

Travis singing style is clearly derived from growing up on Cudi and then being introduced and somewhat folded into the ATL scene, but he doesn't really keep one signature sound he kinda flips it depending on the song and keeps it interesting. I feel like no one would be calling out Travis if it weren't for fans saying he's next level because there's plenty of rappers who lay their influence out on the table but it's almost exclusively Travis who gets picked on since journalists made it trendy to have him be the scapegoat. I honestly think this entire rodeo era is just a phase of Travis because if you listen to OP there's clear streaks of originality but as he's gone on he sounds more and more like an ATL artist, albeit with generally more interesting beats than the competition. I can see this being his radio-friendly period where he's collabing with people his fans f--- with and he's letting his quirkinesss take a backseat to fun future-inspired melodic bangers. After rodeo drops (if it ever does) his next album/mixtape gon go back to that weird s--- and he's gonna distinguish himself and justify all the day ones stanness

Listening to BACC again it's def less prominent than I remember, so my bad.

The Upper Echelon/Straight Up thing were just example that he's pretty clearly influenced by Future, which delves into straight up (pun intended) biting at times.

But I thought after DBR he was gonna go back to that weird s--- and distinguish himself on Rodeo? What happened to Rodeo being "grunge rap"? :maccig:

    Travis gets picked on because:
    1. He's kind of a s-----y human being in general
    2. A lot of his fans don't know his influences and hail him as a "visionary" (f---in lol @ this article: http://ootlyfe.com/travis-scott-is-the-most-interesting-man-in-hip-hop/)
    3. Large publications push him because they're afraid to offend GOOD/Kanye, and people don't like that (it's dishonest journalism). Obviously not every publication HATES him, but notice how even Pitchfork, a publication not afraid (pun intended) to give Eminem 2/10s and are huge fans of Kanye and anything Kanye-related, has decided to not post or review his music AT ALL so far.

Like I said, I think both the love and the hate is too strong, but I don't think people unfairly go at him when a large portion of the media is propelling him. :kanye3:

Lol when has anyone propelled Travis, the two most well known articles written on him are the smear campaign ran by his salty ex manager and the click bait article "Travis is worse than iggy" it took 3 years and a future x 2 chains feature to even get mild radio play and anytime Travis is in the spotlight they ask him about dumb s--- like his grills and not his music.

As far as the s-----y human being thing, don't you think thats a little presumptuous

And then lol @ p4k not giving him the time of day "propelling him forward" bruh that's such a backwards train of thought c'mon

And then @BigCountry of the two singles given to us so far one is clearly his upper Echelon pt 2 aka Atlanta b-----r and the other is that dark Western vibe aka drunk. Every single snippet he's posted points towards a darker, more instrument driven soundscape with trap elements along the lines of drugs you should try

Based upon the way he acts at shows, on social media, in interviews, and in written accounts: yeah, I think he's kind of a s-----y person. The way he carries himself does not sit right with me at all (making fun of fat fans at his shows, destroying s--- at whatever office is holding his album. What a pathetic child). It just adds truth to this alleged "smear campaign" imo. Maybe if he acted differently I wouldn't believe his ex-manager's story.

The "Travis is worse than iggy" article has a clickbait title for sure, but I think it's pretty good summary.

My point re: p4k was that most publications are afraid to not post his music because they don't wanna get cut off from Kanye's camp. Pitchfork, a website that is not afraid to post scathing reviews of things, chooses to not review his music at all rather than take the possibility of offending Kanye's camp.

Travis' whole style seems like a millenial hodgepodge. Whether Kanye or Cudi, or Thug, or Future. He's reaching almost Soulja Boy levels with the biting imo. Never cared for too many songs or beats of his anyways. I think Dominic Lord did the same exact thing and had the same aesthetic only better tuned.

And isnt dude just a snake anyways? How you just dip on an epileptic?
