    But the money from Spotify is like a fraction of a penny for each play... Like, WAY less than a penny....... The labels aren't making anything off of it either :/ Spotify makes their money off of subscription fees. While I agree about labels needing to evolve, Spotify is undoubtedly just as bad

    Also agree about albums not making money, this is a fact. Spotify is still crookery though

    They're both bad but Spotify is a necessary evil in the music industry today.

    I can agree with that. It definitely is a great tool to get your music out there, and build a name for yourself, so that touring is a viable option. I personally would love it if Spotify monetized better, and gave artists a bit more respect in that regard... But it is better to have it available, than not

    I think mentioned Bandcamp in the video somewhere, which is also a great platform for artists to get their music out there.

    Agreed, although with Bandcamp you do have the option to sell your music while Soundcloud doesn't.

    Soundcloud actually just did a deal where they're going to start paying independent labels
