Sep 1, 2015 popular meaning -on the radio -featured w any former disney star or justin bieber -drake feature
Sep 1, 2015 So to be a popular artist, you need to collaborate with disney artists (or beiber), get radio play and have a drake feature? I don't even think I can name a single artist that meets all those criteria...
Sep 1, 2015 Because writers in the industry have basically exposed that he had corporate backing even when he tried to seem indie
Sep 1, 2015 that's not a good definition of what an industry plant is. i'd limit it to artists signed to major labels who are deliberately packaged as independent to deceive the public for any period of time. some people (including me) also use it when an artist with no organic support is shoved down our throats (i.e. travis scott), but that's less nefarious. chance the rapper has had a major label deal since 2012 and i'm shocked official word about it hasn't somehow leaked.
Sep 1, 2015 http://www.djbooth.net/index/mobile/feature/indie-rapper-secretly-signed-major-label Explains industry plants pretty nice. Also, the most famous industry plant of all time? Eminem Was told to lie about his age so people could relate. All of a sudden sprouted up all sorts of musical connections out of nowhere, rapid progression from "underground" to massively famous.
Sep 1, 2015 i'm not going to name names. i think my professional reputation precedes me on this. he's touted as an indie artist because that's beneficial to his branding, and because they jump through some artificial hoops to KIND OF justify it
Sep 1, 2015 if plants are real, who cares? the only one I can't stand is Fetty Wap. There is not one thing original about him. Everything he does in his songs is already done by Chief Keef, Future, and Young Thug
Sep 1, 2015 Lol ok Double 07, i was just seeing if you could point me to an article. Can you at least say who he is signed to?
