Prime Eminem obviously.
No one else was able to constantly release fire verse after fire verse other than prime Eminem and Kendrick today.
You knew when you heard a new eminem song back then, that his verse was going to be amazing and the same stands for Kendrick today.
His verses on Compton, Classic Man, it's all f---ing flames and I have a feeling it's only going to get better. He can do no wrong.
If he died today, I would name Kendrick THE GOAT. -

it's so maddeningly stupid to say that big and pac are rated so highly because they're dead. bruh, do you know how many dead rappers there are? do you know how many of them were genuinely great, but aren't fixtures in greatest-of-all-time discussions? pac and big are there because they deserve to be, and if you disagree you're setting out to be a massive contrarian or you're not well-versed in their catalogs.Ordinary Joel, Section80, FlawlessT and 3 others like this. -

no, you dolt, there's a huge gap between "not liking" someone and thinking they're the greatest rapper of all time two albums into their career. do you have any concept of how much brilliant rap music there is out there? there are probably forty rappers whose first two albums are, on the whole, better than kendrick's, and that's to say nothing of those who outpace him because of the volume of great work they put out.
there is, both because it's laughably premature and because it's ill-informed. do you really think final has given scarface the attention he deserves? kool keith? redman? boosie? e-40? come on.Dec 22, 2025(This ad goes away when signing up) -

Now that I'm thinking about it... imagine if we had a prime Eminem ft Kendrick song.
Would my brain even compute? It would be like renegade had a baby and that baby turned into Jesus. -

Look mate, this is getting boring repeating myself time after f---ing time. I'm sorry if I may have offended you but just take some time to look at my side of the argument.
The question put forward is "If Kendrick died NOW who would he compare to?"
And because he's released two albums which IN MY OPINION are as good as BIGs two, if Kendrick released nothing else (because he'd be dead) and have no opportunity to drop off, his legacy would compare.
That's all I'm trying to say, it's a fair argument and this s--- storm is so unnecessary.Ordinary Joel, CODEiNE DEMON, Big Dangerous and 1 other person like this. -

Apparently BIG's two albums don't count as a career because he got shot, but Kendrick's two albums certify him as top 3 already.

i LOVE good kid, m.A.A.d. city. "money trees" and "maad city" would both be in my top 50 songs from this decade so far. it's a great achievement, better than all but five or so albums that have come out since the start of 2010. but Ready To Die and Life After Death are like Illmatic: they're so undeniable, so masterful that two decades later, they're still being stripped for parts and repurposed by even the best rappers in the world. in fact, big is imitated more than nas ever was. Ready To Die is one of the ten saddest rap albums ever made, but also one of the ten meanest, and maybe one of the ten funniest. Life After Death is, along with Blueprint, the best album ever made about being a rap star, and the only double-disc retail album by a solo rapper that justifies its length. it might be the best album of all time--when's the last time you really sat with "n----s bleed" or "long kiss goodnight" or "kick in the door" or "i gotta story to tell" or "my downfall" or "somebody's gotta die"?Ordinary Joel, Big Dangerous, Narsh and 1 other person like this. -
