f---, Drake is one of my favs OAT but I don't think he could beat Crooked in a rap battle. Yeah if Drake takes his time he could come up with some crazy bars but Crook got them straight up grimy bars

And to answer OP, no. I don't think Drake is overrated. I've loved all his albums and he's an amazing writer. Up until like 2 months ago people weren't even talking about him and Drake SXN was dead

like yeah the guy can rap and sing but comparing him to kendrick and s--- like honestly, if those two got into some sort of beef, who is gonna side with drake apart from the b------s?

i like maybe 3 or 4 songs off each album which is pretty decent, i just dont get all the hype surrounding him

talented guy and i know people on this forum love him, just wondering what some of the reasons you all adore him are?

who could you really put him against in a live rap battle and expect him to beat?

Even Crooked I would still smash drake in my opinion

I do see where you are coming from but i feel your thinking is a little too old school. Some rappers come up not wanting to be a battle rapper. Taking my favorite rapper at the moment, Future, would have a hard time battle rapping anyone because of his style but that doesnt mean he cant hold his own in the game as he is one of the most relevant artists out there.

I would say song for song Drake can hold his own against anyone. He makes great songs period. He is also so versatile. He can make any song that he wants to. That gives him an edge over many who can't sing or can't rap.

I don't wanna go against my Drake homies

but Crooked is a monster. He has a way more aggressive style than Drake which comes into play a lot in battling imo. And I'm not talking screaming like Meek, idk it's just something in his voice but you can tell you don't want it with him, his bars are viscious.

he gets the recognition because he makes great records that appeal to people

drake is not overrated. he's what people love to hear and everything he touches turns to gold. he's gonna have a few people like yourself that don't like his music which is fine. he's one of the more versatile artists i've had the privilege to hear in my lifetime. not many people can go from his soft emotional songs to dropping songs like 0-100 or basically all of IYRTITL
