Oct 3, 2015Even by myself, the production sonically is some of the best hes ever had. Yes they were just beats, but cohesively the only album that comes close sonically is Relapse.
Lyrically he didnt have much to say (or atleast thats the vibe you get while listening) but the delivery and flow are on point. He was just a young dude trying to make a name and imo dropped a great first official solo album. His lyrical complexity was pretty unmatched in the days the album came out, especially if you heard he was white.
This album needs some recognition, does anyone else feel theyre guilty of underrating it? I couldnt tell you why i do, i think its because his major label debut was just so huge, such a staple in the hip hop world that we overlook anything released before 98/99. I dont get it, because some of his 94 tracks and others like wicked s---, a day without ameer, those are all stellar and definitely wrrent trying to be mainstream. They were trying to be raw hip hop, if he did one thing different i would have wanted him to just go raw dawg on infinite n say f--- it.
Whats everyones opinions about the album? Favorite song?
TLDR: fave song?
