Oct 20, 2015 “Hotline Bling” has become one of the biggest hits of Drake’s career. The single is closing in on the #1 spot on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart, and Drizzy just released the video for the track overnight. While “Hotline Bling” has become a pop smash, there are some listeners that believe the song is very similar to another record released months ago – D.R.A.M.’s “Cha Cha.” The Hampton, Virginia native took to Twitter to express he is in the camp that feels the two songs are very similar and not by coincidence.... This is not the first time Drake has been accused of “jacking” another artist’s work. Last month rising singer Abra accused the OVO leader of lifting her “U Kno” for ““Diamonds Dancing.” In April, Two-9 member Jace claimed Drizzy stole the beats for “6 God” and “No Tellin’.” Drake also reportedly had to pay Rappin’ 4-Tay for recycling his lyrics on YG’s “Who Do You Love?” D.R.A.M. is currently on the “Family Matters Tour” with Chance The Rapper & The Social Experiment, Metro Boomin, and Towkio. His GAHDAMN! EP is scheduled for release on October 23. http://allhiphop.com/2015/10/20/d-r-a-m-feels-drake-jacked-his-cha-cha-song-for-hotline-bling/
Oct 20, 2015 I haven't heard the other song, nor do I care to but there are a lot of cases especially in recent memory where people confuse influence with jacking.
Oct 20, 2015 Yeah, I don't follow him enough anymore to be knowledgeable on all that s---. Just saying there always seems to be someone crying out with a lot of recent songs claiming something's stolen and to be honest, I don't blame them. A lot of s--- these days does sound the same.
Oct 20, 2015 He singing a different tune a week ago What does it mean to you to have an artist of his level be inspired by a track of yours? For it to not even have been a year? It's very flattering. Know what I'm saying. He's the first powerhouse to be heavily influenced by the VA wave that was influenced by myself and Gabe [Niles]. And like, it's pretty much just a stamp that what we're going is something real here. Ya know, we're going to continue on. I dont think he is going to be the only that will be heavily influenced by our wave and sound. I just think he was the first. And ya know, over here we're embracing it. hypetrak.com.....n-with-dram/
