It's not easy but it's definitely do-able. A lot of people did it myself included. Like i said, if you can stay at your parents a little longer, why not. But it's not uncommon for someone who is 21 to make it on their own. You just have to carefully manage your money.

You have to learn to be independent and not expect your mommy and daddy to always be there for you to fall back on.

I don't mind answering - I worked at Wendy's 40+ hours a week from 10th-12th grade. Saved about 95% of it since I didn't have any bills living at home

Uh wait, didn't you have school those years too? How the h--- did you work 40 plus hours a week at the same time? Unless you just mean in the summer but then I doubt you'd have saved up so much.

d--- bruh that's brutal. i had 2 jobs during high school. i worked cleaning grocery stores from like 10 or 11pm to like 3am with the most f----- up crew of people imaginable and i was only there 2 weeks because they were so f----- in the head, then i quit there and went to mcdonalds where i worked like maybe 20 hours a week, but i could only stomach that for 2 months.

:sweatt:cant imagine 40hrs a week at a fast food place for years. on top of school. respect that hustle tho

I'm talking about people in their early 30s with jobs that never moved out once.

well then chances are they just don't make enough $ at their job to move out

i mean, it's possible that they make enough to move out and just haven't done it yet.

but it's a lot more likely that the only reason they're still there is because they don't make that much money

I feel everyone's situation is different and trying to compare them or say there's a certain age you should move out by is kinda pointless.

I went to school from like 8am - 2:30pm, then worked either 4pm-12am or 5pm-2am. I didn't party or anything like normal high schoolers but we did drink a good amount of alcohol and other stuff at Wendy's. Also senior year I got out of school at like 11:30am so it was easier to get hours in
That's still a lot of work during high school! I still meet people who are just getting their first job, after they graduate with their 4 year degree.. I feel sorry for them. Almost no life experience. And they mooch off their parents for years after moving out :rockynotimpressed:

if you mean my work it really wasn't a lot during hs lol. i only worked the grocery store 2 weekends in the summer, then mcdonalds was part time maybe 4 or 5 days a week in 3.5-8 hour shifts. it wasn't that bad time wise but i just hate the idea of working for someone else.

that always really irked me. being someones employee.

that's great man. i respect that. can't knock someone who's able to work that many hours a week and maintain school.

i was just curious because that's a lot of money to have saved by 18 years of age. i worked during high school too, but not that many hours. just part-time.

It's not that bad dude, school from 8-2 like 3/4 days a week. Then work afternoons and weekends. It was stressful for the 2 years I did for but it was manageable and I trsanderred with a 3.5. Only crappy part was no time for anything else other than school work, maybe an hour or two at the gym a day but that was it :emoji_slight_frown:
