Nov 23, 2015I believe that there is a stigma attached to mental health disorders and I don't see anything changing because there is not enough understanding or awareness. A mental health disorder doesn't determine a human being just like a colour, same sex relationships or physical disabilities doesn't but for some reason mental health disorders seems to be the only one that doesn't have a real understanding.

i feel like in 10 years the public will have much better grasp on mental health disorders and how it's an actual chemical imbalance and not just somebody being "weak" or whatever. it's unfortunate for now, but hey sometimes you just gotta roll with the punches.Mimi, BrandonB1415 and Ordinary Joel like this. -

For me, the biggest issue I have with my mental disorders is people not taking it seriously enough. Since "it is all in your head" some people think your just being a p---- and you can just ignore it and it will go away. But that is usually not the case.K18 El Duderino, Cyreides and Music like this. -

I agree that treatment has evolved but unfortunately the understanding from the general public hasn't. I know somebody close to me that has bi polar and people judge every decision, activity or feeling and base it on her mental illness and not by her being a person with rational thoughts or feelingsLast edited: Nov 23, 2015K18 El Duderino, shahidah and TheBlackSheep like this.
