    Tips, Tricks, Tutorials.

This thread is for all of that.

If you have questions about producing, check this thread to see if it's posted already, or ask in here. This should help keep down threads like that in the main SXN, and can probably greatly help anyone trying to get into production here. Also, if you have something to contribute to this thread, feel free to post it, and I'll add it to the proper post below.

And while my contribution to this thread will be limited to FL, this thread in general won't be limited to any one DAW.

Thread will be broken up a bit. Below there are posts for videos on each DAW, as well as non-video tips.

    Tips:

-Get familiar with the slice tool, very useful for chopping up patterns and adding variation.

-Same for 'make unique'/'split channels' (tho I typically try and duplicate the pattern I'm splitting to have a back up to work with and test new melodies/additions to the pattern)

-Try and always do at least one thing different in your production each new song you do, helps keep your production from getting stale. Example:
If you used a piano-rolled kick drum roll build for your drops before, try something new. Try a riser? Just switch it up. Don't always use the same drum patterns either, and try to chop them up and add additional hits here and there.

-Build your tracks, and make them feel like that's what they're doing with all the different layers going into things. If you make use of the 'split channels' button on your patterns, you can easily build your tracks by simply having different instruments slowly come in. Same with automation clips. Use them to bring instruments in overtime and help with transitions.

-Listen closely to your favorite artists/music and see how they bring different elements into the tracks, how it's structured, how they do certain things and take that, and in your own way, you can incorporate it into your music and learn from it

-If there's something you feel like you could be doing with your production, but aren't because you don't feel like it, or don't want to because it's complicated or will take awhile, just do it anyways. It will become second nature to you eventually, get easier/faster, and help you out SO much in the long run.

-Try to hear your tracks on as many different sources (headphones, earbuds, speakers, car etc.) as you can to verify the mixing/eq's/mastering are all up to par

I have knowledge for days when it comes to FL. Feel free to ask if you have any questions; I've helped many on reddit, in the past.
