Mar 4, 2016Purple reign... just sounded like a bunch of monster leftovers and the DJ tags were horrendously mixed. When i heard he was dropping a new 'album' i was really excited, but that wasn't any different. Sure they weren't bad but with an artist of Futures caliber i expect some innovation and creativity with new releases not just the same old stuff, like from monster to DS2 there was a pretty noticeable change in production and flow.
I also blame metro, he use to be my favorite producer by a mile, no one was as creative and original as the dude with production, before purple reign dropped i never went "meh" to a metro beat, now i feel a lot of his production is boring and dull. Even on low life, the beat was dope but it didn't feel like a metro beat.
Also ever since future was such an a------ in that Clique interview right before DS2 dropped I have changed my opinions on him as a rap icon, he basically said in that interview that he doesn't care about lyrics and ultimately gave off the impression that he doesn't give a f--- about making music, it's just something that brings money in.
I miss feeling that wisdom and that drive behind Futures songs circa Monster. Does anyone else feel the same? other than me it seems whenever people are asked they're opinion on Evol and purple reign they love them, but there really not talked about much and the buzz around the releases were minimal. Anyone else think that futures legendary 'peat' is coming to an end?
