Mar 21, 2016Ok so it might of been someone on here but they told me about Relapse being a concept album and it actually kinda makes sense when you look at it like this. For me this made the album waaay f---ing better
Ok so we have the tracklist...
1. “Dr. West” (skit) - This is where Em first comes outof Rehab all re-invented and s--- but the moment he enters the real world "slim shady" takes over again and he realised he can't run from it so he lets it embrace him
*dusts off stan hat*
2. “3 A.M.”
3. “My Mom”
4. “Insane”
5. “Bagpipes From Baghdad”
6. “Hello”
7. “Tonya” (skit)
8. “Same Song & Dance”
9. “We Made You”
10. “Medicine Ball”
11. “Paul” (skit)
12. “Stay Wide Awake”
13. “Old Time’s Sake” (featuring Dr. Dre)
All of these songs are Slim Shady f---ing around and doing whatever the f--- he wants to do on a beat, He explores his past obsessions, talks about his drug abuse but less serious. He also has fantasies about murdering people and kidnapping them.
14. “Must Be the Ganja”
This is where Shady realises he doesnt know the cause to his psychoticness ect and questions what is really making him like this. He doesnt mind the high though so he continues to take all of the substances he can take (this is also when the accent ends)
15. “Mr. Mathers”
16. “Déjà Vu”
At this point due to an overdose Marshall has OD'd and the ambulance has come to his house to take him to hospital. This is where he self reflects on all of his drug abuse seriously instead of avoiding it he openly says things such as lying about cancellations and s---.
17. “Beautiful”
This is when Marshall has recovered from his OD but has realised his life is a f---ing mess at this point and feels like talking about deep personal s--- and reflecting on his life
18. “Crack a Bottle” (featuring Dr. Dre and 50 Cent)
19. “Steve Berman” (skit)
20. “Underground/ Ken Kaniff”
This is new Marshall, He has come outof his depression and the first thing he does is hit up Dre and 50 and they get back together "you don't have to tell me why you're sick cos i know why" This time Em avoids the alcohol ect but happily advocates it. Underground is him announcing his true "return" and now hes 100% sober and s---.
ok so i realised i spent far to long on some weird a--- concept that is reaching af but for me it makes the album better.

Insane is in poor taste (and a lame attempt at more "shock value") and " we made you" was a corny attempt to keep to his 'formula', but I enjoyed the album overall.
There are a few gems i still listen to from this album. I always kinda viewed it as a concept album. The dissappointment from fans was mostly due to this being his 'comeback album'.
Had he come out with recovery first, he prob would have hit a million first week based on hype.
Anyway....
Bonus tracks are good
3am beat hits hard
Full rhyme verses on stay wide awake
Deja vu and beautiful are held high against old material
Hello and same sog and dance are dope
It's BEST songs are better than most on mmlp2 IMO.Jb27, Custommustardstain and Immy like this. -

I think most of you are just haters for the sake of hating (as has become a common trend on this forum).
I loved Relapse, and really wish Relapse 2 was released. It has awesome replay value and I rarely ever get bored of it. Compared to his other albums, this is probably my most replayed cover-to-cover album and I am a livid fan.
I know that comment will get mad hate speech... But, guess what? I still don't give a f***.
