    i stopped listening to it top down, i usually just play tracks 8 to 16 and then repeat since that's the summer portion and it just rides well.

    the 1 to 7 stretch is the best part of the album though, and as self indulged as it is, that's drake at home with some obvious growth when it comes to song structure and letting the melody carry his music.

    i know the album is getting lukewarm reception, especially from those who were writing narratives as to why it would s--- before it even dropped ("drake is making a dancehall album LMAO", "imagine how corny an rnb disc and a rapping disc will be LOL" etc.) but if I found any redeemable case against this album by any of them, i might care.

    but views is exactly the album myself and every drake fan who was waiting on this s--- for 2 years wanted, so i'm not mad at anyones opinion, just thankful for how much i'm enjoying it myself. i was doubting i would after how average his output was for me in all of 2015.

    he finessed the arrangement of the summer portion so well. with you and too good being the openers and closers both have a light island vibe, with controlla and one dance going balls to the wall with it (and being placed exactly in the middle back to back).

    and then everything in between capture pretty much every other mood for our summers. still here and childs play >>>>

    this album only getting better for me each day.

    s--- all sounds the same too, i'm a drake fan and i don't even know which one of the songs is "running through the 6 with my woes" dead a---, i just know its in one of the first 5 tracks which all sound the exact same.

    Worried? Why? If you're a Drake fan at this point you have to accept that you're unable to know if his lyrics were written by him or not. It's up to you whether or not you want to make a value judgment based on that, and whether you'll let that affect your enjoyment of his work. But there's no uncertainty here: the guy uses writers extensively.

    agreed, but given that it clearly had a handful of gems, and that it was a tape, i'm no more mad at IYRT than I am with future's EVOL

    WATTBA might be the most frustrating project of all time tho

    Here's the reality, he's a pop star who is the face of a successful machine and will very likely do anything to keep the machine greased.

    1) There are various values (authenticity, talent, DIY ethics) within Hip-Hop that frown up this.
    2) The image he has sold is contradicted. It feels disingenuous. If you bought into it, his product is likely tainted. How can you be the greatest if you didn't write your own s---?
    3) Whatever you think about 1 or 2. there is also apparent shady business at play which is fueling the controversy.

    I don't care that he doesn't write his own s---. At least, it doesn't stop my from liking or not liking his music. He's just like most pop stars except his genre isn't pop, it's hip-hop.

    I do care that OVO & him are shady with the money which I assume is pretty common in the industry but d--- show some love. People starving out here & you making millions.

    well WATTBA was made in like 6 days so i wouldn't really expect much more. i'm sure we'll get something from promethazine papi again down the line. maybe after the tour.

    word, the summer portion of the album (tracks 8 to 16) might not even be for you, but i'm not mad at that :idk:

    i live in canada, and that's probably why, but i've only come across one person IRL that isn't blown away by this joint lmao. this s--- is gonna ride for me all summer, whether or not i play it myself.
