Jul 9, 2016 Project wise 90's years rule obviously no competition there As for Gambino, he is a very unique artist that is what I was pointing out and as for Kanye and 50, it goes beyond the music. Kanye isn't kanye because of his music but because of his personality or at least of that he portrays. Same goes with 50. As for earl no artist in the 90s had his style of music, plain and simple, you can't point out one.
Jul 9, 2016 I see your argument as far as the originality. Since the genre is advancing as we speak I think thats a fair point. Theres going to be sounds that we haven't heard yet. Kanyes personality and 50's personality makes their music better? not to me. Mobb Deep did 50 better than 50 did. Outkast and tribe called quest did kanye better than kanye did. Regarding Earl, I think we can kind of point to eminem and MF DOOM as far as earl's influences go.
Jul 9, 2016 I'm talking president day earl not 2009 earl, MF DOOM obviously yes but Doom became Doom in 1999 and especially 2004 so I classify him more of a 2000's artist. Outkasts music is not really the same as Kanyes as for Tribe, their production, mostly thanks to tip does sound very similar to early kanye. As for their presence not changing their music, I would have to agree but Hip Hop isn't just music, its culture.
Jul 9, 2016 Lord Jamar can be really ignorant. Him speaking about homosexuality and transgenders was discusting.
Jul 9, 2016 its okay though because he was just a guest in hip hop, the only reason people pay attention to him is because DJ Vlad couldn't get anyone that actually matters onto his show 3 times a week.
Jul 9, 2016 90s were better than 00s but Lord Jamar was a small part of what made the 90s great Brand Nubian had a few albums in the first half of the decade, Grand Puba was the star of the group, Jamar never had a solo hit, Jamar hasn't been within five miles of a relevant song since like 1996
Jul 9, 2016 i dont, it just seems like he doesnt have that much respect for OGs. this is like the third time he called out an old man to fight lol. then again he had a long phone convo with nore after calling him out on twitter so i dont really know
Jul 9, 2016 for all I know he could have been trolling when he said bow wow was his favorite rapper and trolling about wanting to square up with Nore lol
Jul 9, 2016 Vince is hilarious; he does all this to get a rise out of crusty, humorless old heads. (Although there is, as he would point out, truth at the heart of a lot of his jokes.) lol @ Jamar being an OG though, he was the weak link in a group that made precisely one and a half good albums.
Jul 9, 2016 Now that I consider it I could totally see Lamont rapping "Step Into da Cipher" in his car. Vince is far better now than Jamar ever was. The irony about Vince is he actually makes music that caters to what 90s fans claim they want. They're just mad he's not a boring, hyper-reverent person.
Jul 9, 2016 but ya Jamar hasn't got the legacy to back up his attitude. His best claim to fame is guest starring in a sopranos episode. It really hurt him deep down when djvlad made him admit Eminem is a better lyricist than him.
Jul 9, 2016 Not a dusty old head. I just like brand nubian. and tbh i couldnt even tell you what "step into da cipher" is. that song rings no bells for me without doing a quick google search. Vince is better than Jamar. definitely. hes already got a more impressive discograpy under his belt. and i give him props for not backing down from his opinions
