Aug 4, 2016He released I Am and Nastradamus within 7 months of each other. I Am was supposed to be a double disc but because of leaks they hurried the release and he recorded the Nastradamus tracks in 7 months along with some tracks that were supposed to be on I Am...he was trying to go more commercial on those albums

@Soldier a few reasons for the awful album by the GOAT.
He was becoming commercialized at the time. I Am, although IMO a great album, started the process.
Also, as @Worm said, I Am and Nastradamus were made within 7 months of each other too..
Plus, a HUGE reason that the album was bad was because Nas was focused on his dying mother at the time. He mentioned it in a few songs and interviews. He barely could focus on it. Granted, she didn't die until 2002, but he raps about it in Last Real n----- Alive.
Jay Z really jolted his career though. Without Takeover, Nas probably would've continued a downward spiral.
In saying all of that, Nastradamus still remains one of the biggest disappointments ever for me. I remember buying it as a CD (I used to buy tapes, but Nastradamus was one of the first albums I bought as a CD), all excited and just stood with a vacant expression listening to it.
Awful.Soldier, canyouduck, Deadpool and 2 others like this. -

Nastradamus was an awful album but he somehow managed to make this song for the album. Granted, the beat still kinda sucks on this song but Life We Chose is arguably a top 10 Nas track.

I wasn't even the biggest fan of Ether, but hearing Stillmatic was one of the greatest listening experiences of my Stanhood. It's why it's my favorite Nas album. The intro still gives me chills.Groovy Tony, canyouduck, Ordinary Joel and 1 other person like this. -

Get Down, Dance, Heaven, Last Real n----- Alive, Book Of Rhymes, I Can, Warrior's Song, Thugz Mansion, Made U Look, Cross.
I even like Nas' verse on Zone Out (even though I f---ing HATE Bravehearts)
Plus, the bonus disc was amazing. p---- Killz should've been on the album, it was a standout track, and I think G.O.D should've been the single instead of Made U Look.
God's Son is such an underrated album. Don't compare that piece of s--- album, Nastradamus, to it. It offends me.Raziel, Soldier and canyouduck like this. -
