    I don't think it's the music itself, it's more the fans. Reel hip hop heads are obnoxious c---- so people make dust jokes to bait them

    It became polarizing due to resentment by later generations. If you lived through and listened to Rap in the 90s, you probably enjoyed it. If you didn't and grew up in the 2000's hearing people wax nostalgic about it, you probably hated it depending on your music preferences (there are obviously lots of younger people who love the 90s as there are people who hated it).
