Sep 27, 2016I'm with you on the failed catchphrases - that s--- has to end
But in terms of her overall success, I don't agree at all. Keep in mind, debating Trump is a unique challenge. Look at the 16 opponents he faced in the spring (plenty of which were losers, sure, but there were others - Christie, Rubio, Cruz, etc. - who can be very effective communicators) and just remember how none of them ever really mastered their interactions with him, aside from some decent exchanges here and there. Clinton brought a level of dismissiveness in her responses to Trump's ridiculousness, which was important, but she never, ever descended into Al Gore levels of detachment. She gave policy specifics without ever finding herself too deep in the weeds (a la Obama, first debate, 2012). She was exactly good humored enough to ward off the "smile!" punditry, without ever looking like a clown who wasn't taking things seriously (Biden). She was unequivocal where she needed to be (primarily e-mails, but also her response to how unacceptable the whole birther movement was). Her barbs at Trump, as you mentioned, could be sometimes robotic and will hopefully be delivered more skillfully next time around...but they had their exact intended effect, which was to make Trump increasingly unglued and out of his element.
There is room for improvement in Clinton's performance and it was not flawless. But this went significantly beyond what I expected from her and was exactly what she needed at this particular point in the race. You say it didn't move the needle - I say in a week you may well feel differently.

Pointing out that unscientific polls are demonstrably worse than scientific polls isn't "grasping at straws" - it's blindingly obvious to anyone with a high school education. Do you really need this explained to you? Do you genuinely not understand? -

neither one really won/moved the needle. trump nailed hillary a couple of times, but he seemed bumbling at others--even if you're a lunatic who thinks stop and frisk was good, the way he circled back to it again and again for twenty minutes was embarrassing. and the tangent about how no one calls sean hannity was bizarre. hillary might as well have been structuring her responses for minimum impact. she keeps making stupid, failed attempts at talking in catchphrases, and she won't speak unequivocally about almost any policy points. she even fumbled a question about equal pay for women. really anticlimactic on each side.reD10S, lil uzi vert stan, asvdawg and 2 others like this. -

Yes, I am. Back in the winter/spring, Bernie Sanders would consistently win those types of online polls as well. He still lost the primary by a lot - wasn't even close, in fact. It has to do with what sort of supporters you have, what sort of sites they frequent, how often they are willing to vote, etc.
The reason the scientific v. unscientific polls distinction matters is because Trump is only winning the unscientific polls. Look at the CNN poll where Trump was determined to have lost by what - 40 points or something crazy like that? This is a real, scientific poll, and it's not a biased one - in October of 2012, Mitt Romney won the CNN poll after the first debate by a similar margin.
So yeah, go ahead and hang your hat on a Drudge Report poll () if you insist, but nobody with a serious understanding of how these things work would advise you to take such a thing seriously.

trump knows that the majority of people watching don't have a clue on the claims he's making... he's smart enough to know that if he says enough crazy s---, that there's a good amount of people who will actually buy into it.
devious, but effective approach...if you're stupid enough to take things at face value (which, unfortunately a shitload of people are). -

Trump is a f---ing buffoon who wouldn't be anywhere without his dad. His dad bailed out his failed ventures a s--- ton of times and gave him opportunities/money and the mam still manages to go bankrupt 6 times and is so insecure he has to lie about his net worth.
He spent his his entire adult life bullying people that weren't born as fortunate as him and becomes so insecure that he sues people that make fun of him.
He is pathetic. He is sad. Honestly the entire birther thing is enough for me to despise the man, but yet he gives me a lifetimes worth of s--- to makee despise him.
Then he goes and runs a presidental campaign that takes a group feeling left in the dust by Washington and uses fear to get them to support him. He constantly lies and mainuplates, somewhat intentionally and other times unintentionally. The entire culture he is hanaressing is dangerous and cannot be allowed to spread any futher.

I didn't only say it was a conspiracy theory--I also said it had been debunked.
What does this have to do with anything we're talking about?
Breitbart is widely mocked--even by Fox brass--for being a pseudo-news organization that essentially functions as a propaganda arm for the far right.
That's exactly what they're known for.
Do you have any idea how any newsroom works? Do you know how much disincentive there is to let government statements go unchecked? More importantly, do you realize how desperately any reporter would want to uncover some conspiracy? How do you think Watergate broke?
Holy s---. How dumb are you? She IS supremely qualified to be president. She's also an abysmal candidate. Two things that any impartial observer has known for the entirety of the election.
