well im explaining why generally rap has one of the lowest thresholds of a music genre skills speaking, right?

ur the one that said rock is all team work and rap requires more from the artist. you said pop is cheesy with a few exceptions (?) as though there are 3 genres and that post covered them all lmao

singers don't need music theory instrumentalist don't need music theory rappers don't need music theory some people just train themselves and know how to play music not every musician knows music theory and writing songs for rap is no different than any other genre what makes u think its easier?

rappers generally do all the writing, the hook...and they weight in the beat

how does that compared to pop where the artist does fraction of the writing (if any at all) ... and beats/hooks given to them ready made

or to rock, where 5 people is doing everything together

instrumentalists dont need music theory? what?

you dont just train yourself to be a professional musician though i mean you can but id say an easy 90% of people are trained in SOME form whereas rap is essentially mimicking your idols and working our your own style and freestyling to sharpen your skills


i say writing raps is easier than other music because it is idk ive done both its so much harder to come up with an interesting melody/harmony and song concept than it is to write bars i feel like anyone could do that all day i could write my next reply in a rap lol you have guys that freestyle their whole projects

but why are there only 3 genres in this discussion we're having and why is it 5 people in a band thats quiet a large band lol and no they dont split up the duties equally bands often have a "mastermind" and then friends or session players that help them record tame impala for example kevin parker is a multi instrumentalist that writes all their songs but he just has people to play them with him

and id agree you need more skill to rap well and to be a pop star well btw but thats like the lowest skill level threshold and there are like hundreds of genres
