i cant think of a single Eminem song that resembles Bully but i might be forgetting something? i f---in love this song...i dont know why Eminem went into total despair when initial encore leaked and he decided to get revenge on us, but bully/americans/love you more is beyond classic...but yea, any other song like bully he made?

kinda similar to Nail in the Coffin, The Sauce, Go to Sleep and those features on the Obie album, they all have that same gloomy/dark/Shady sound when he was pissed off and flowing like a MFer without sounding corny. 2003 Em mad underrated

    Great thread topic.

The "8 Mile era" is by far his peak but I thought it went from unstoppable to instant classic must hear music when he signed 50. Every release or leak was immediately a "where were you when..." event.

Em and Dre already ruled both the rap game and pop culture. It was complete dominance. Somehow they went to another stratosphere when they helped 50 release In Da Club. I was in my early 20s at this time. I remember it all so vividly. Any leak or new freestyle from Eminem's brother or Kay slay or Green lantern and the world stopped. Literally everyone was bumping that s--- back then, every house party and every block party, every car full of kids driving around with their windows down, it was just everywhere, and no one ever had negative things to say about Eminem. He literally was unstoppable. I don't listen to rock music at all but I feel like this era is similar to when the Beatles first broke into America and took the world by storm.

After signing 50 cent and getting caught up in all the beefs, Eminem was slaughtering verses and whole songs. That mediafire link in this thread (thanks for sharing!) is a good recap of some of his best work from that time but there was so much more material when you include the 3 Green lantern Mixtapes (I listen to this s--- all the d--- time, I never grow old of it, especially part 2... ), G-Unit mixtapes, plus all the official albums released by Aftermath/Shady/G-Unit.

f--- man there was so much material being released. So fortunate we live in a world where we can easily listen to all that music!

To me this was Eminem'a peak , I'd love it if he reverted back to this and caused a tonne of s--- against other rappers not females, and we had a tonne of content between albums then

Holy s--- I'm old as f---! Hahaha crazy that even people like you and me with such a huge age difference both listen to eminem. Just goes to show his appeal. I'm always baffled when people say no one's listening to eminem in 2017 or that he should retire haha

    Are you from America?

Im happy that even today Em can still release dope songs. There were a few on MMLP2 spread across the main cd and bonus disc that I really loved. On these songs, his energy is very similar to his earlier work albeit with a different voice and technical style. But that energy was there. I feel he just needs to stop working with these outside producers. He's not recording for Recovery any more. Stop working with outside producers and stick with self produced, aftermath produced, or basss brothers produced. Any other beat CD he receives should immediately be put aside out of sight out of mind.

Edit: He's definitely not releasing quality albums like he used to and the most recent releases are definitely concerning (campaign speech and no favors), but I am really hoping his new album is not smothered with this new style. It's just not worthy of multiple listens. Here's hoping!

I will be the first person to admit I love the gangster eminem phase the best, by far. I know many here in the forum clown on him for this phase. From the 50 signing up to his hiatus, I personally love those songs and verses the best. I am not blind to the MMLP and TES dominance, but his diss songs and overall "f--- you I'm the best ever, period, I'll k--- you if you say or think otherwise" attitude was my favorite.

In retrospect is was corny but at that time, s--- was insane. These dudes were wearing bullet proof vests in public because there was so much tension and threats of violence. If you didn't live through this phase as a fan, it's hard to comprehend how crazy it was that the worlds biggest hip hop publication went to war with aftermath/shady records while they were simultaneously beefing with Murder Inc and Ja Rule and on a lesser level Jermaine Dupri and Canibus. That whole period was such a great time to be a hip hop fan!

And all those songs were great... definitely at his best. I still listen to those songs atleast once every couple of months. Simple deliveries but they had a meaning. Shouting was always valid and even the singing on bully worked. Also his feature on my name with x I put right up there.
