Yeah, I know. Koolo is the man. I personally witnessed his rise to greatness on RapBasement when he leaked "Straight From the Vault" and became a legend so I have nothing bad to say at him, and think he's smart enough to know I'm not doing that tbh.

What I want is an album that offers something new from Eminem. Some modern beats (I liked some of the Rubin beats on MMLP2 but I think he should venture away from that style on the next album), some smooth flows, and a nice delivery. I don't care if he does any lyrical miracle songs just so long as they sound good on the ear.

As for features, I'd love him to do a good handful of them. A mix of the OGs and some new cats would be nice. Though I would like more solo songs than features. Three or four features would be ideal for me.

tl;dr I want a replayable album that sounds good

    Option A:
Eminem has no features, it's a terrible album

    Option B:
Eminem has features on every song. But instead of good artists, majority are female pop singers.

    Lose/Lose either way

Nopeeee .. first thing yes his flow is choppy, but it's just style of music and Tech n9ne always calls himself chopper.

But how he's off beat? give me post hiatus example

Respectfully disagree, accents aren't bad thing, and in 2016 many rappers started putting them more often in their music, e.g: Kendrick,,, It adds to the persona and it's a thing that was never made before (as theme for whole concept album). But I can see your point and ur entitled to ur opinion

    100% agree

Specifically "Phenomenal" is a song where he noticeably sounds off beat at some points, because he switches up his flow and it just doesn't fit on the beat very well. On "Speedom" he switches his flow a few times, and even though the last portion is very choppy, it doesn't sound off beat. Tbh, it's just a minor thing. He's been experimenting with his flow a lot since pre-Recovery, and I think he's incredible at rapping double, triple, and even quadruple time. That s--- is f---ing HARD lol. It's like your brain has to be completely focused on making sure your tongue doesn't slip.

I think the most disappointing thing, to me at least, with the accent was this. Before the album dropped, he released "I'm Having a Relapse" which featured the accent heavily. Although, it was annoying somewhat, it was also some of the better material he'd released in years, so it was excusable. Then he dropped the album, and it felt like almost every track featured the same f---in' accent.

Most people came to the conclusion, that considering the horrorcore-style content, Eminem was trying to replicate the "Slim Shady" era, and the accent was his own horrible interpretation of what Slim Shady actually represented, which wasn't just over-the-top violence, and vivid imagery, but also an era filled with flawless lyricism on every level. Metaphors, multi-syllabic rhyme schemes that flowed smoothly together, and most importantly, an obvious hunger, and ambition to prove himself. Now while that final thing is never gonna be there again, I mean, even if you don't consider him the greatest of all time, he's at least in the conversation, and respected by all the people he looked up to... (I KNOW I'M TRAILING OFF RIGHT NOW lol.)

Anyway, my biggest disappointment with the accent was that - what I felt it stood for, which was a misinterpretation of a style that defined him forever. Everyone wanted Slim Shady back. I didn't really care. I enjoyed his progression and maturity over the course of his first three albums, and I mean maturity as an artist, not a person, lol. I'll always be very passionate about my love/hate relationship with his music. The fact that he can disappoint me at all says so much, since there's not many artists I really care enough about to be effected by their decline, but he's the exception.

As for his next album, I'll follow the same strategy as the last ones. Lowest expectations possible. If he meets those, meh, whatever. Even Encore had a few gems (Yellow Brick Road is one of my favorite songs he's done.) But if he can do what we all know he's capable of doing, then maybe my pessimism can pay off somehow ha. Sorry for the novel, but I write long a--- posts all the time.

Can't disagree, just replayed Phenomenal and his flow weird, my analyzation: he has over-complex flow pattern, because he spends 10 months working on every track and 'perfectionist', so he must've noticed if he's off beat.. still not excuse because it sounds bad. So I agree on this one.

I see how u find accent annoying. It's actually double edged sword, you have to be in certain mood to enjoy them, and when you do, it sounds like the best album ever made in history, that's why you read many ppl say Relapse is their #1 album, however, if you're not in that mood (which most casual listeners aren't) it will sound like s---.

Agree on that as well, it's Eminem fault that he didn't give us image to rely on.. didn't say it's a concept album, never explained the accent. People when first heard it were like wtf.... I guess if he let us know it would be much more better received.

    Retweet

No worries, I enjoy reading detailed opinions about my fav, Yea I guess I will go with your approach of expectations.

and the thing is, so far, every Em album had gems.. so if the album wasn't completely what we r looking, we still getting some sick gems.

While some of his best verses have come via collab tracks (Renegade, Patiently Waiting, etc), I like him more when he goes solo.

it's this weird thing that happens, idk maybe you should google it. also in that "before" picture he's ON the drugs, and the AFTER picture shows the aftermath of those drugs + age

    pretty complicated stuff.

Lol Eminem raps off beat all the time lately.. coming from a fan since day one.. I personally hope he drops his new flow all together and gets back to his roots. f--- would it be nice to just hear him make some normal songs with some DRE production and influence. Dres album was crazy good, it wasn't what I wanted but it was a breath of fresh air.. was just missing the singles and club bangers and it would have been a highly touted album. Go and listen to what got Eminem where he is today, SSLP, MMLP, Eminem Shownandn8 Mile albums, the conspiracy mixtapes, his features with DRE, Xzibit, Redman, 50 cent during that ERA etc., and compare it to his music now.. it's not even close. He used to capture a nation, he used to write about Real s---.. he had a way of sneaking things into a song and getting his message across without the song even being directly about that message, he had a theme that ran through all his songs and albums every song and feature he did you could relate to.. he truly was the GOAT of his time.
