Pt. 3 > Pt. 1 > Pt. 2 > Pt. 4
Pt. 1 and Pt. 2 are really close, definitely interchangeable. Pt. 3 is a top 5 Kendrick song, it's absolutely incredible. Pt. 1 and Pt. 2 are Kendrick flexing his technical ability which is fun and really impressive but Pt. 3 really shows his ability as an overall song writer. The way he can just captivate an audience and the whole songs build up to "will you let hip-hop die on october 22nd?" is just incredible. I still get goose bumps from listening to it.
Pt. 4 is really good but definitely a good distance away from the first 3. Anyone who isn't putting Pt. 4 last is lying to themselves tbh. That's not to criticize Pt. 4 either, it's just that the first 3 are all so great.Fire Squad, Ordinary Joel, Yass97 and 3 others like this. -

Whoa.... I wouldn't say that. Control was overrated because people lost it when he called out a ton of rappers. In this song, him dissing Sean or whatever isn't even the highlight. Hearing him flow on various beats (all of which are great) and the confidence that seeps through his delivery is what makes this work.
"Yellin', "One, two, three, four, five
I am the greatest rapper alive!"
So d--- great, MFer, I've died
What you hearin' now is a paranormal vibe
House on the hill, house on the beach, n----- (facts)
A condo in Compton, I'm still in reach, n----- (facts)
I'm fresh out the water, I'm 'bout to breach, n-----
The five-foot giant woke up out of his sleep, n-----"
Also, this:
"Donald Trump is a chump
Know how we feel, punk? Tell 'em that God comin'
And Russia need a replay button, y'all up to somethin'
Electorial votes look like memorial votes
But America's truth ain't ignorin' the votes
It's blasphemy, how many gon' blast for me?
I prophesized on my last song, you laughed at me
Oh, when the s--- get brackin', don't you ask for me
How many leaders gon' tell you the truth after me?
G Malone big bro, kudos to him
I was two O's from a M, tryna be big as Em"
Similar to Pt. 1, this is Kendrick showing off his technical ability and just talking s---. He also takes time to reflect on what's happened politically and takes credit for warning people ("I prophesized on my last song, you laughed at me"). The whole track is just a a stream line of consciousness that Kendrick makes entertaining the only way Kendrick knows how.Mike Tyson, Ordinary Joel, asvdawg and 1 other person like this. -
