    it didnt sell 1 million in 1 day

    the way RIAA work, is record labels have to pay and request the certificates, it is not an automated process..so Interscrope did not pay nor request the certificates for 3 years..then when they do, RIAA will not just certify you the highest one you get, they will certify you for everything you achieved

    so lets say in June 10, MMLP2 sold 1 million copies
    in 3 years, it kept selling little by little until it sold 4 million copies in 2017
    Interscrope decides to certify MMLP2 again
    RIAA will not just give you 4X Plat certificate and ignore the others, they will give you 4 certificates for each mill you sold

    also gotta keep in mind how left field Not Afraid was at the time. Not Afraid was everywhere because it was empowering and inspiring. Berzerk was just a fun song. LTWYL was a song that people could try and relate to because it's about an abusive relationship. plus Rihanna being on it caused it to skyrocket. Monster was about fame... not a lot of people can tap into that. it still did get some decent radio play though.

    It's been on the billboard 200 for like 350 consecutive weeks or something crazy (ever since it was released 10 years ago basically). That has gotta be some sort of record....
