Man people parrot this s--- all the time but it's just not true. Pac was a huge star in his lifetime and was pretty much already considered the greatest, at the very least on the west coast, before he died. Pac made a good handful of the most iconic hip hop songs ever released, the man who made Dear Mama, California Love, and Hail Mary is definitely not overrated. I get the feeling you've never listened to a Pac album and are just saying this s--- to be contrarian.Ordinary Joel, Kush Gawd, mow and 4 others like this. -

This guy's a huge Eminem fan saying Pac's overrated cuz people sometimes call him the best ever without being able to go into details about his discography, lmao..Hypocrite much? That's....how it goes for some artists that have like 50 million fans genius, not every one of them is gonna be a huge fan and know all about their career.
That's part of why they're so huge, they have appeal outside of just rap fans...
If you think Pac's overrated fine, but your argument's a f---in joke for 2 reasons, what I said above and also how he was huge when he was alive, which you seem to be arguing.Ordinary Joel, Kush Gawd, dkdnfbdjdkdddjdjfvcgfl and 2 others like this. -

Yeah Tupac is the most enigmatic and interesting hip hop artist outside of music ever imo. And that translates over to his music and why it is still praised to this day as some of the best across all genres.
But this whole 5 song thing takes the cake...on the contrary I couldn't even list my 5 favorite Tupac tracks because his discog is so consistent off the top of my head 5 don't even stand out, he has so many high quality tracks.Ordinary Joel, dkdnfbdjdkdddjdjfvcgfl, Juney Dark and 1 other person like this.Apr 3, 2026(This ad goes away when signing up) -

This is so ridiculously ignorant, I don't even know where to start.
Did you just half a--- google Tupac or something? Because, aside from your opinions on his music, most of your arguments are completely wrong.
2Pac had 3 albums before signing to Death Row (which was before the East vs West beef), and he was still one of the most popular rappers in that time frame. LL Cool J, Will Smith, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, Dre, Biggie and Kriss Kross (lol) were all huge at that time too.
Granted, Me Against The World is the album that really launched him, his first two albums were still pretty popular, and he was a highly respected artist from those albums.
Plus, Pac was in 3 popular movies- Juice, Poetic Justice and Above The Rim before 1995.
However, yes, when he signed with Death Row, and joined Snoop and Dre? He went into another stratosphere, and this was BEFORE Hit Em Up and BEFORE his death. He released All Eyez On Me, and I'm pretty sure he went diamond before the summer time of that year (memory is fuzzy), I can't remember, but the album was a huge success way before the Biggie beef or his death.
Same thing with anyone saying Biggie is only popular because of his death. Such a dumb and uneducated thing to say. 2Pac and Biggie earned their popularity well before their respected deaths.
Big L (who is a personal favorite of mine) would be someone who became popularized after his death, but DEFINITELY not 2Pac or Biggie.Ordinary Joel, Big Dangerous and Kon like this. -

'Besides his great songs he doesn't have anything else.'
lol to me there's no rapper this is LESS true about than Pac. Some of my favorite songs of his are not his most popular or anywhere near his most popular, then Pac also has a ton of interesting stuff outside his music as well. I mean his movies are good but I'm talking more about his interviews, poetry, activism, etc..
Pac was a very interesting person outside his music as I said, some tend to sleep on that. But even if we are only talking music, he has MUCH more than his '5 great songs and nothing else' or whatever he said.Ordinary Joel, Juney Dark and Big Dangerous like this. -

Anybody rated as highly as Pac can be called overrated. He's definitely a name that people gravitate towards even if they can't name a Pac album. That said, he was extremely prolific, excelled in a lot of different directions topically, and had one of the most emotive deliveries in rap history.

you're talking bs. pac had both rap heads and rap casuals, as well as critics. logic only has casuals. Pac had extremely critically acclaimed albums when he was alive, Pac was loved b4 he died, he was considered a legend. ask the people who were there.Ordinary Joel, JIGGA MANE and VR46 like this.Apr 3, 2026(This ad goes away when signing up) -

Went 5/5 on good albums when he was alive, 3 of them are still seen as classics today. He was also the most popular rapper at the time of his death, so the fact that people see him in a high regard is 'unjustified' is an opinion of yours and far from a fact.
You're an Eminem fan...he hasn't released a good album (arguably hardly any good songs) in over a decade, yet is still seen in high regard..Where's your complaining about that?Ordinary Joel, Kush Gawd and dkdnfbdjdkdddjdjfvcgfl like this. -
