I liked the movie overall but its a bit derivative. Similar to how Joker was taking too many notes from Scorsese (Taxi Driver and The King of Comedy), this film takes a lot from Fincher (Zodiac and Se7en). It works, it’s a good film but I don’t think it tops The Dark Knight.

Kinda wish this was in the film instead of the scene at the end. It would’ve played more naturally than the other scene which felt tacked on as sequel bait.

still not sold on the actor as the villain he plays but it should be interesting

The joker scene in the movie was just awful and out of place. Don’t care for the casting either. That being said, that deleted scene is great.

I watched TDK a couple of weeks ago fresh off of the Batman. I can’t say it’s a better film. It’s far and away number 2 though. It’s the best Batman film, though, if that makes sense.

    The movie was A+.

And certainly the most beautiful superhero movie I've seen since TDKR.

Finally got a chance to watch this. I appreciate the different take on Batman, but wasn't a big fan. For how slow the movie was, it was entirely too long. The action scenes, especially the end was very anticlimactic. Riddler was a really good character though. I honestly didn't feel like I was watching a Batman movie even though this was probably the most screen time Batman has gotten in any of the movies. For how slow the story was and the direction/special effects I felt like I was watching a Max Payne movie with Batman, minus the bullet time. I'd watch if they make sequels to this but I probably wouldn't sit through another 3 hours to ever watch this again. Not even close to TDK trilogy imo

Thanks finally someone with reason. Most people acted like Batman slowly walking around a crime scene until someone handed him the Riddler card for 80% of the movie was "some classic Batman detective work". The characters and acting were all great but I've never looked at my watch more times than during this film

I loved it but I don't really like superheroes all that much which is probably why I enjoyed it a lot. It felt more like SE7EN than a superhero movie. Def more of a mystery/detective noir.

Up there with the woat Batman films for sure. I nearly fell asleep half way through but like someone already said, Riddler was the best part about this movie. Without riddler it’s like a 1/10 but with riddler it’s a weak 3/10

I thought the cast was good except for Alfred and Pattinson's Bruce. It's a bit slow and too long, but it's a good movie. Bit forgettable though. I would give it a 7 after a second watch.

Nolan ones were way better, but this movie and Joker are 10 times better than whatever they are trying to do with the DCEU, so I want more serious movies from DC.

Watched it last week. I don't like this Batman at all.
Can't say I hate it, but I definitely do not like it.
Bruce Wayne comes off way too emo.
The Riddler is just an emo too. A teenage who wouldn't scare anybody in real life.
Alfred might be the worst Alfred I have ever seen.

And yeah, the scene at the end made me cringe. Looked like a couple of teenagers laughing. That joker was really a joke.

The Christian Bale saga in still the best imho. By far. Unmatched.
That one was a dark Batman without being a total emo. And it still had some funny moments.
They actually showed us how he became the Batman. How he learned to fight. What he had to go through. And there were a lot of unpredictable surprises in each of the three films.

This new The Batman movie has been too predictable for me the whole time. I never felt tense or anything.

I'm sorry if y'all loved this. I actually saw I'd see 90% of you disliking it as much as I did when I came here today. Was surprised with most of your comments.

Recently rewatched and I still liked it the same. I think a lot of people were maybe looking for something else in a superhero/Batman movie; I thought the noir/thriller direction was a perfect route for the character.

I imagine the sequel will look a lot like the 3rd act.

tdk > this > Batman begins > tdkr, for me

I personally disagree on the too emo take, it's all a matter of opinion but I like that the riddler isn't scary after he takes the mask off he just looks like a Jeffery Dahmer type trying to be tough and I also enjoy that Batman's arc in this movie is about becoming the actual more comic accurate representation of the character.

I think they did a good job not spelling the backstory of everything out and not making this an origin story again cause that s--- is boring now tbh.

Not perfect or without it's faults by any means but I think it's the most pure Batman we've gotten in a while, the whole approach just oozes with the style of a graphic novel.

Sorry for using your comment as an excuse to write an essay I just wanted to get my thoughts out in a place that isn't a vaccum (i.e. my house lol)

    Oh no problem buddy.

I think I enjoyed the first movie of Michael Keaton's Batman more than this one.

This movie is almost 3 hours. I think it was a waste of that much time. I don't think it was worth making a 3 hour film if you take into consideration what was told in it, what they showed. It got repetitive at boring for me towards the middle. In 3 hours they could've done so much more.

I almost felt like I was playing The TellTale game series of the Batman at one point (whic, ironically, I enjoyed a lot, great game).

Telltale game was great, I understand length being a problem even I thought it was getting a bit long in the tooth. But I appreciate what was in it and idk what I would've taken out (besides the joker scene, please stop putting him in movies) but that's just me personally.

Oh yeah I definitely agree with that.
The Joker's a great character but it's been overused now.
There are plenty other villains that should be in a Batman movie.
