I was like 7-8 when all his goofy music videos were played non-stop here so it's crazy knowing he had an inescapable reach outside of the small crazy world the Bronx,NY was for me so seeing what you and @Michael Myers posted is f---ing cool to know. Like I've said,
I never was a fan to begin with (heavy NY bias even as a kid lol) but he was brilliant.

Literally everyone here knows eminem. Even 50 year old coworkers know him lmao. Nobody has a clue who people like future and thug are, let alone the street rappers that are posted here. Not dissing them obviously lol, just facts

I don't really understand where you coming from w/ this 'we wouldn't know' stuff....we know how big Eminem is right now, and it dwarfs other top selling rap artists multiple times over in sales and global reach...

If someone was to get that big, which they very likely never will again, we would know

    And it won't happen

I know it's mind blowing for people to realize this but drake with how big of a mega star he is, you could still find plenty of older people say "drake? Who is that??".

Whereas with Eminem it's like you're shocked if they don't know Eminem as soon as you mention his name.

Just crazy what being white and being from the early 2000s where being controversial provoked a worldwide media outcry. No one can get that attention now

You can debate whether he’s the greatest rapper of all time, but there’s no debate that he’s the biggest. It’s not hard to compare numbers.

The guy just put out arguably his worst album but still sold out over 500,000 tickets to a European tour in hours..

..and he performed in front of 125,000 danish fans the other day, breaking attendance records. No other rapper can do that, especially 20 years into his career

streaming and the social media universe makes it impossible for anyone to be bigger than Eminem anymore

unless they massively change the way streams are counted its not gonna happen

h---, even with streams Em is almost outselling every rapper...almost

And Eminem is the most influential rapper of all time. Just look how many persons (even famous people) say that they were inpired by him. We wouldn't have Kendrick, J cole and + artists if it wasn't for him.

People who compare youtube views of todays rappers to Eminem are beyond f---ing r-----ed. Youtube was founded in 2005 lol. Imagine if youtube was a thing when Eminem first blew up. The amount of views he would have would be astronomical

d---, you salty. Take it from Detroit. He's overrated. And I mean the part of Detroit that matters. Because MFers you see at most his concerts don't even listen to Hip-Hop. Stop bein' so butthurt. I never said he wasn't the biggest. I said I hate it. He deserves relevancy. He doesn't deserve to be the most popular. He lasted 4 years being as good as people make him out to be in general.

Someone like Kendrick Lamar might not ever receive the same type of critical acclaim, but his catalog will always s--- all over Em's. Danny Brown makes me prouder to be a Hip-Hop fan and Detroit Native, even though he's a little reckless with his personal partying lifestyle. No one will ever be as big as Em was in his prime.

But the fact that he's still as relevant as he is, is a blessing to him, and a reflection of the fact that all of humankind will never stop being shallow. Biggest. Not best. Not greatest. Most popular. You said it yourself, genius. And to ignore that his pigment is a factor, is downright foolish. Tell me I'm wrong. LMFAO!

On the internet he might be adored. He’s got fans that no matter what stand by his side. But if you meet a Travis Scott fan in real life. The majority listened because he is popular. Or women listened to him because they thought he was hot.

If you ask a Travis Scott what Trab song is there favorite. It’s Anitidote or a song from Birds. You bring up Oh My, h--- of a Night, Skyfall etc etc. and most people don’t even know wtf you are talking about.

Travis Scott is overrated but underrated at the same time.

To say someone is bigger than music does sound surreal... but for real, that’s really the case for Eminem. He immediately caught everyones ear in the whole f---ing world with the real slim shady, without me and lose yourself. Sure rockstar was huge but Eminem really made sure that everyone knew who he was, he was/is special. Now two decades later he broke records in almost every arena he was at during his european tour.. and pls keep in mind that this is during his ”fell off so f---ing hard-period”
